Dissertation-in-practice A “DISSERTATION IN PRACTICE” CAN TAKE DIFFERENT FORMS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • a structured case study of an education policy, program, or organization • an exploration of leadership or organizational behavior, using quantitative, and/or qualitative research methodologies • a systematic review of evidence with the development or design of a new educational program, intervention, or strategy • a research project that seeks to answer a specific question by drawing on data that is generated by the student’s organization of employment or a related organization • an evaluation of a program, project, intervention or educational organization • a structured study of a pilot intervention or policy 13

Minimum Admission Requirements Master's degree in the area of Educational Leadership and Policy or an equivalent degree with high academic standing from a recognized university. In addition to minimum degree requirements, applicants will be considered on their individual merits for admission 15

Statement of Intent • Why is this program right for you and why are you right for this program? • Highlight your professional and academic background • Discuss your study plan, your research interests and aptitude, the potential faculty you want to work with, etc. • 1000-1500 words
Sample of Written Work Applicants must submit written evidence of their ability to: define a research question or problem devise a research design analyze and report research findings Submit your undergraduate or master's thesis to satisfy this requirement. Those who hold an MEd or other non-thesis master's degree may submit an alternate, such as: • A major research paper or essay written for master's level courses • Reports and studies written as part of employment
