THE CONDUCTOR Stephen Zork, Professor of Music, has been the director of Choral Studies at Andrews University for 30 years since 1991. He oversees the graduate choral conducting program and teaches classes in choral pedagogy and literature. He has guest-conducted and presented at choral festivals, and music conferences throughout the United States, and in Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Mexico, South America, and Zimbabwe. His choirs have performed on four separate occasions at conferences of the American Choral Director’s Association. He is a member of the voice faculty, and a baritone soloist specializing in oratorio repertoire and art song. He has sung under notable choral pedagogues such as Eric Ericson, Dale Warland, and Robert Shaw. Stephen Zork is in his 29th year as director of the Chancel Choir at First Congregational Church UCC of St. Joseph, Michigan. Married to his wife Susan for over 45 years, they are blessed with four children and six grandchildren. GUEST CONDUCTOR AND PIANIST Brenton Offenback has been the Director of Music at the First Congregational Church in St. Joseph, Michigan since 2017 where he serves as organist and pianist. There at the church he also directs the Jubilate Ringers and Alleluia Ringers (hand bell choirs), leads a children's choir, and accompanies the Chancel Choir. In 2018, he began directing the Pioneer Memorial Church Choir. As an Andrews University alum, Mr. Offenback received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education in 2009 (K - 12). He completed his Master of Music degree in Organ Performance and Choral Conducting in 2014. A dedicated family man, he and his wife, Rachelle, are blessed with two children; Kayleigh and Emma. ANDREWS UNIVERSITY SINGERS This choir is the select touring choir of the Department of Music under the direction of Stephen Zork. Singers represents Andrews University locally, nationally and abroad through concert tours, media broadcasts and six audio recording albums. The choir’s range of music reflects the internationally diverse cultural threads that constitute the fabric of Andrews University’s celebrated multinational student-body. Under professor Zork’s leadership, University Singers has traveled on highly acclaimed international concert tours throughout Great Britain, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Chile, Bahamas, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. They have performed in concert with noted musical artists such as Bobby McFerrin, jazz pianist David Benoit, and with The King’s Singers. They performed the USA premier of Bob Chilcott’s High Flight and A Thanksgiving commissioned for the King’s Singers 40th anniversary celebration. University Singers’ audio recordings are selected for the nationally syndicated radio broadcast programs Sing for Joy and With Heart and Voice, and they have been featured on the nationally televised ABC Christmas Special. University Singers can be heard regularly on radio station WAUS and viewed on Three ABN Television Broadcasts. On May 1, the Department of Music choirs will participate in a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the AUSO. PIONEER MEN’S CHORUS & CANTA BELLA were formed as alternatives to the larger University Chorale in order to accommodate smaller ensembles due to the COVID pandemic.
