PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS Thursday 11:00 - 13:00 Prof. Dr. John Mew, DMD »What is Orthotropics?« Biography Prof. Mew developed the concept of facial ‘Growth Guidance’ [Orthotropics®] and the ‘Biobloc’ system of treatment. He has published numerous scientific papers and articles, written two textbooks and lectures regularly on the subject in the U.K. and abroad. In 2010, Prof. Mew was honored with two “Outstanding Achievement Awards”from the International Association of Orthodontists and the International Functional Association. He has been honored with lifetime membership to the British Dental Association and has also received a lifetime fellowship to the International College of Dentists—an honor bestowed upon dentists who have “made significant contributions to the profession.”. He is the Head of the London Shool of Facial Orthotropics. He postulated something he called an Orthrotropic premise: nose must breathe, lips need to be together, tongue should rest on roof of the mouth. This is called Proper Oral Posture. When these conditions are met, dental arches will grow to accommodate all the teeth and face will develop accordingly. Thursday 14:30 - 18:30 Dr.Dr.(PhD) Johann Lechner, DMD Cavitational osteonecrosis (NICO) round table moderator Biography Dr. Dr.(PhD) Johann Lechner, Dentist and Naturopath. Head of the Clinic for Integrative Dentistry in Munich, Germany since 1980. Member of executive board of DAH (German Association for Research on Disturbance Fields and Regulation) and since 1982 chairman of GZM (International Society for Holistic Dentistry). He has extensive lecture and seminar activities in USA, Europe and China. Dr. Lechner published numerous articles in addition to nine books in German about Holistic Dentistry and Integrative Medicine. Dr. Lechner’s researches focus on silent inflammation in jawbone and the implication to systemic diseases. Some of the studies done by Dr. Lechner are the first ones worldwide and contribute to development of a new field of Maxillo-Mandibular Osteoimmunology and Micro-Immunotherapy.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS Friday 9:00 - 10:00 Prof. Dr. Boyd E. Haley, PhD Hg induced oxidative stress and potential treatment. Biography Prof. Haley obtained his MS in Chemistry at the University of Idaho and his PhD in Chemistry/ Biochemistry at Washington State University. He was appointed as Chair and Professor of Chemistry from 1996 to 2005 at the University of Kentucky. He retired in July 2008. Dr. Haley has lectured throughout the world and testified before Congressional Committees and the Institute of Medicine regarding various aspects of mercury toxicity and neurological diseases. He is the Chairman of the IAOMT Scientific Advisory Board. Friday 10:00 - 11:00 Dr. Michael S. Bank, PhD Hg as a global pollutant. Biography Dr. Bank's research is highly interdisciplinary. His interests are focused on three principle themes (a) How do contaminants affect organisms, including humans, (b) How can contaminants in ecosystem compartments be modeled using Bayesian statistics and information theory, and (c) How can this information be used in a scientific translation and environmental governance context. Current Projects: Global Climate Change and Mercury Pollution: Environmental Governance; Research and Management of Converging Issues United Nations Environment Programme’s global mercury partnership: developing science for successful implementation of the Minamata Convention; National Assessment of Mercury Speciation in North American Amphibians Evaluating Reproducibility in Environmental Contaminant.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS Thursday 9:00 - 11:00 IAOMT’s guidelines for Mercury-Safe clinic SMART – Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique The number of patients seeking safe mercury amalgam removal exceeds the number of dentists that do it the right way, the safe way – the SMART way. When patients seek safe mercury amalgam removal on the web, they inevitably stumble upon the IAOMT and from there the path leads towards SMART as THE protocol for safe mercury amalgam removal. As a benefit of being a member of the Academy and having a valid SMART certificate, Your practice is listed on the IAOMT web site and easier for those in need of safe amalgam removal to find You. Saturday 9:00 - 11:00 Dr. Sammy Noumbissi, DDS Why are metalfree ceramic implants the favorite choice for my patients? Biography Dr. Noumbissi earned his DDS from Howard University College of Dentistry, Washington DC. He furthered his dental training by attending the full time three-year Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University in California. His advanced studies culminated with a certificate in Implant Dentistry and a Masters of Science in Implant Surgery. His area of expertise is Metal Free Full Arch Reconstruction. He is the founder and President of the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology IAOCI.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS FUNCTIONAL ENDODONTICS Thursday 14:30 - 16:00 Holistic dentists know the research done by great men like Dr. Weston Price, Dr. George Meinig, Dr. Hal Huggins, Dr. Boyd Haley, and many others on proving the degenerative and fatal outcomes of harboring avital, root canal filled teeth within a living organism, e.g. human jaw. Are endodontic techniques a thing of the past if one is practicing biological dentistry? Dr. med. Volker von Baehr, will highlight how the immune system reacts to an avital tooth. Damir Skripec Larisseger, DMD, will, on the other hand, show, how functional endodontic techniques can be helpful in resolving pathology in special cases such as Chronic Maxillary Sinusitis. REGENERATION Saturday 16:30 - 18:30 Patient as well as Surgeon’s satisfaction after an intra-oral surgical procedure is greatly dependent on the post-operative period; the shorter, with least possible unwanted reactions is what all included parties aim and wish for, besides the optimal clinical outcome of the treatment, obviously. To achieve predictable results, various adjunct treatments are at will, of them Ozone use in dentistry will be highlighted at Thursday’s Fundamentals course, while the paradigm shifting approach of using a-PRF and i-PRF methods in dental surgical procedures and the regenera- tive power of Hirudotherapy, will be featured in the last block of Saturday’s Scientific courses.
