ALBERTA ENERGY EFFICIENCY ALLIANCE The Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance (AEEA) is a member-based organization with a diverse group of stakeholders actively working to advance and maximize energy efficiency in the province of Alberta. Energy efficiency plays an important role in creating a sustainable Alberta, both economically and environmentally. Since 2007, the AEEA has brought people together to collaboratively engage in solving problems, coordinating action and delivering a common voice for the energy efficiency industry in Alberta. Our mandate is to increase awareness and advocate for the economic and environmental benefits of energy efficiency in Alberta, from creating jobs and growing the economy to saving energy costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our annual events convene expert local, national and international speakers, interested government and industry stakeholders, and the network of service providers to share resources and ideas. Our mission speaks to the importance of reducing the barriers to sustained and broad adoption of energy efficiency initiatives and technologies, recognizing that there is an economic and environmental need for all orders and sectors of government, businesses, non- profit organizations and individuals to realize the benefits of energy efficiency. Vision Alberta will become a world leader in energy efficiency, as it is a world leader in energy production. Mission Drive to maximize energy efficiency by being an inclusive and diverse forum for communication, collaborative problem solving, coordinated action and a common voice to enhance the economic and environmental success of Alberta. AEEA Beliefs • Energy efficiency plays an important role in creating a sustainable Alberta, economically and environmentally. • There are non-economic barriers to the adoption of economic energy efficiency technology and activities. • There is a role for all orders of government, all businesses (commercial, institutional, retail, industrial, and utilities), non-profit organizations and individuals in maximizing the benefits of energy efficiency. • By working together we all achieve more. SUMMIT DEMOGRAPHICS In total, there were nearly 300 attendees at the AEEA 2018 Alberta Energy Efficiency Summit, nearly 225 attendees at the AEEA 2019 Energy Efficiency Summit in Edmonton, AB representing federal, provincial and municipal governments, and organizations from various industries, located all over Canada and the USA. 2019 Attendee Location Breakdown: The vast majority (81%) of 2019 attendees were located in Alberta primarily from Edmonton and surrounding area. The 2018 Summit in Calgary drove a similar majority of attendees from Calgary and the surrounding area. 2019 Registration Breakdown: The largest contingent of attendees (32%) at the Alberta Energy Efficiency 2019 Summit were not members of the AEEA, and were from the Government, Municipal, and Academia sector. 81% 2019 When asked to rate the overall quality of the 2019 Alberta Energy Efficiency Summit, 81% said that the 2019 Summit was “Excellent” or “Above Average”. 81% was also achieved for the 2018 Summit.
