FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Pretty soon it will be time to ring the bell, say goodbye to 2019 and hello 2020! This year has been a special one as we embarked on the largest capital project in the history of Sawgrass Country Club. While trying to keep everything running smoothly during a major construction project is a big challenge, I’ve been so proud of our Team and how they’ve responded. The culinary staff with people such as Roger Wood, has set up mobile food production daily at the Golf Lounge/Patio which is an incredibly difficult task. Think about the fact that he loads up a truck everyday with the products needed from the Beach Club, drives over and then transports all items via a rolling cart to set up his mobile line, produces food service for hours and then afterwards breaks it down, cleans his area and returns everything back to the Beach Club. He’s a great example of going above and beyond to limit the least amount of member impact given the sacrifices you’re making. Like Roger, we have many other wonderful staff (many behind the scenes) that remain busy accommodating the various games, meetings, luncheons, golf rounds, tennis events, fitness classes, kids programs, etc., but they remain excited about the task at hand and understand that our success as a club is grounded in your enjoyment as a member. Next year will still require sacrifices while we progress through other major milestones, but it will bring many more memories and at the end of the year we hope to be exiting this construction project and returning to full amenity levels in 2021. In the closing, I would be remiss if I didn’t reflect on a few of the many things that I’m very thankful for: I have an amazing wife and two wonderful daughters; I get to work and live in one of the most beautiful places around; and, I’m blessed to come through the community gates and work for a fabulous membership. Likewise, I’m equally blessed to do it along with a fabulous Team that is working together and across departments, playing for a common goal: one Team, one Sawgrass! Best wishes for an amazing holiday season, and bring on 2020! C. W. Cook
