WEEK 9 TERM 3 Commencing Monday 6th September 2021 Welcome to what will be another busy week at Parkview Public School. Please consider the following as you plan your week: Virtual Book Week Character Parade All students are invited to dress up in their Book Week Character Parade Costumes this Tuesday, 7th September and Wednesday, 8th September. The attached timetable (over the page) shows the days when classes will have a Zoom in which students are encouraged to wear their costumes. Please note children are not obligated to wear costumes to attend these Zooms. If your children are able to dress up, we encourage you to take a photograph and send it to the school so we can collate class galleries and post them on our School Website. You can forward your photos to us in one of two ways: *message the school Facebook page with a private message *email the school email address Parkview P&C Association Father’s Day Raffle Thanks is extended to all community members who were able to support our P&C Association’s Father’s Day Raffle. The event was a tremendous success thanks to our generous sponsors and supportive community. Congratulations is extended to the following prize winners: 1st Prize (valued at $650) - Amanda Mills A famous scotch fillet cube roll from JBS 4 Burner BBQ and Accessories Pack donated by Bunnings Warehouse Griffith 2nd Prize (valued at $250) - Gail Campbell A relaxing overnight stay at Whitton Malt House including an hour of fishing and a bucket of golf balls! 3rd Prize (valued at $150) - Maria Iannelli A wonderful pack for Dad including a leather wallet, a laptop backpack, a travel mug, a travel esky and more! Our raffle was also made possible thanks to the generosity of Longhurst Mechanical, Strandbags and Darrington Transport. Bright Beginnings 2022 We are excited to invite registrations for Bright Beginnings 2022! If your child will be 4 years old in 2022 and they are starting school in 2023, or you are considering enrolling them in 2023, we welcome your child's participation in our Early Years Learning Framework. Bright Beginnings runs from 9.15am-11.45am Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Parkview Public School. If you have any questions or queries we encourage you to contact the school during business hours. To register your child you can click on the link provided below or visit the School Administration Office for hard copy of the flyer which will be available when ‘Stay at Home’ Orders are lifted. Zoom Sessions Week 9 All children will have the opportunity to engage in multiple Zoom Sessions with their class mates during this learning week. To connect to these Zoom Conferences, children will be forwarded Zoom Links which they can access either in their Google Classrooms or via their email accounts (using their DET Portal credentials). Additional small group Zooms may also be scheduled for children who require additional support. Individual students will be notified of these Zooms prior to them occurring. Suggested Online Learning Timetable All children have three Google Classrooms that they can access for online learning. Below is a suggested timeline for engaging in activities, but please be aware that if this this timeline does not suit you, you are welcome to undertake the various activities provided by classrooms teachers at a time that better suits your home timetable at this difficult time. Please also contact the school if you are experiencing difficulty logging into our online learning systems as we have dedicated staff waiting for your calls to help you get engaged with the online learning platform. Kindergarten 2022 Transition Program The commencement of Kindergarten 2022 Transition has been postponed. We will communicate a new starting date when the ramifications of the current lockdown are known. We share everyone’s disappointment in this program not commencing and we look forward to meeting our newest students as soon as possible. Bright Beginnings – TEMPORARILY CEASED Bright Beginnings lessons have been cancelled for this week due to the current COVID-19 Lockdown. We will communicate with effected families as soon as we are able to resume. Winhangara Playgroup - TEMPORARILY CEASED Winhangara Playgroup has been cancelled for this week due to the current COVID-19 Lockdown. We will communicate with families as soon as we are able to resume this much loved program.
COVID 19 Protocol Reminders Please note that a range of COVID-19 Protocols have been amended for the current Stay at Home Orders. Schools are currently at Level 4 restrictions which essentially prevents anyone other than limited staff members from entering our site. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Following us on Facebook Are you on Facebook? To get all of the latest breaking news and previews of the coming school day ahead, like our school Facebook page and join over 1700 followers who stay up to date with our school happenings via social media. Uniform Shop The Uniform Shop will continue its normal opening times of Monday 9am – 10am and Thursday 2.10pm – 3.10pm. If you require access to the Uniform Shop outside of these times please contact the school to organise a mutually convenient time to access your uniform needs. Accessing the School App Get all of the news and information of Parkview Public School at your fingertips through our School App! The app gives parents the ability to instantly access newsletters and calendar events without going to the website, or to send in a sick note while you stand outside the school because you forgot to write a paper note! There are many other easy to use features on the App including maps, uniform price lists, canteen price lists, change of details notifications, Facebook links, the ability to send us photos of your favourite moments for your kids at school and much more. To download the Parkview PS App to your smartphone, go to either the Apple App Store or Android Google Play Market and search for Parkview Public School. Once you have found it press install or download. How to Install Our School App On Apple • On your iPhone open the app store • Search for our school name • Press Install • Enter your iTunes password • It will commence downloading immediately Android/Google Play • On your SmartPhone open the Android/Google Play market • Search for our school name • Press install • Your app will start installing instantly To Open Our School App • Look for our schools app icon on your phone screen • Press the icon once • It will open automatically When prompted select yes to receive notifications and use your location (this will make sure the google maps and pop-up alerts work for you) Parkview Public School Website Don’t forget to log on to www.parkview-p.schools.nsw.edu.au for all of the latest news, pictures and calendar updates for your school and links to educational information that is relevant to your child! Golden Apple Docket Fundraiser Please keep your Golden Apple shopping dockets and place them in the container at the front office. This is a great way to raise funds for our students. Parkview Public School receives 5c from every ten dollars collected.
Finally, as always, if you have an issue or concern please contact the classroom teacher, the appropriate Assistant Principal or myself. From time to time issues arise at school.
