General Scholarship Information Many diverse scholarship opportunities are available to graduating students in local, national, and international categories. Scholarships are awarded to students for academic achievement, involvement in either the school community or the local community. In addition, the St. James Assiniboia School Division offers our students a wide variety of scholarships that celebrate the hard work and success of our 2022 graduates. CSHC Student Services is an excellent resource to learn about the opportunities available, but it is important for students to explore the possibilities on their own to discover what is available and determine what will be the best fit. In general, there are 3 ways to access scholarships. 1. The University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Brandon University and Université de St. Boniface award entrance scholarships to students graduating from a Manitoba high school provided they submit a regular entrance application by the specified deadline and meet the academic grades required. The scholarships range from $800 to $3,000. Students applying to post-secondary institutions outside of the province should check the offers available where they plan to apply. 2. Students should also check the list of available scholarships below. Click on the link and read the information to determine if you qualify. The school may require additional information if a nomination process is in place or that award. In addition, students are encouraged to sign up for one of the scholarship websites. An example would be https://www.scholarshipscanada.com/ 3. At the school level, students can apply for scholarships available to CSHC graduating students using the survey form located here: https://www.sjasd.ca/school/sturgeonheights/ About/Grad2021/Pages/default.aspx#/=. These scholarships include school board cash awards and other scholarships offered through external organizations that are distributed to CSHC graduating students in June at the graduation ceremony. 4. Please see the link below for the list of awards offered in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division on behalf of contributions made to the St. James-Assiniboia Scholarship Foundation. Awards are categorized by schools and education level http://www.sjasd.ca/AboutUs/Scholarship/ AwardsList/Pages/default.aspx#/= It is important to note that beyond entrance scholarships, there can be other university scholarships available to students. Please use the financial aid and awards page of each institution to determine what is available. Back to top Page 2
