G e neral Tourna m ent I n fo r mati on & Rem inders PARKING: Refer to the campus map when parking. Our volunteers will direct you where to park. Please do NOT park in local businesses' spaces. We want to be invited back again next year, and key to that is being good guests. ONLY judges may park in the bus loop, and the front visitors lot is BY PERMIT ONLY. All other ON-CAMPUS parking is open to teams and their guests. CAMPUS LITTER/RECYCLING: Receptacles are throughout the campus. PLEASE USE THEM. If you see litter, please pick it up or, better yet, gently encourage the person who accidentally dropped it to pick it up! Again, we are ALL guests on the Edgewater campus. We have been given a great opportunity to have the Magic Center Regional Tournament at such a wonderful venue. We want to be invited back — help us be the best guests ever. NON-SMOKING CAMPUS: Edgewater High School is a non-smoking campus. Enough said. FOOD AND SOUVENIR SALES: Cash and checks are preferred, but credit cards are accepted for purchases of $20 or more. An ATM is directly across the street at Walgreens. CONCESSIONS: Open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Concessions will serve affordably priced Continental breakfast items, as well as grilled items, pizza, drinks and snacks. ALL proceeds stay in the Magic Center Region. What a great — and easy — way to support the region! From 3:30 to 6 p.m., only snacks and drinks will continue to be served. SOUVENIRS: Open at 9 a.m., the Sales area in the Cafeteria is where you'll find regional and state merchandise, in addition to fun novelties, hats and other "wearables." Proceeds benefit the Magic Center Region. Be sure to pick up your light-up items and noise- makers for the Awards Ceremony. NOTE: To ensure that competing teams are not distracted, noisemakers will be sold ONLY just before the Awards Ceremony in the pop-up Sales stand outside of the Gym and by roaming vendors in the Gym. 50/50 RAFFLE TO BENEFIT THE MAGIC CENTER REGION'S SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day in the Sales area, at the Silly String table outside of Spontaneous and by roving ticket sellers. The cost is $1 per ticket or an arm's length for $10. Last year's winner took home nearly $500. The winner, whose name is drawn during the Awards Ceremony, need not be present to win. AWARDS CEREMONY: The ceremony will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Gym. You will definitely want to stick around for this one!

It is presented to teams or individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity, either through some aspect of their problem solution or an extraordinary idea beyond the problem solution. A successful problem solution is not a criterion for winning the award; rather, the award is a way to acknowledge and encourage creative thinking and risk-taking. OMER’S AWARD is named for the Odyssey of the Mind raccoon mascot, OMER, in recognition of individuals or teams who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exemplary behavior, or exceptional talent. Recipients of this award may be coaches, team members, parents, officials or anyone else that tournament officials or directors feel exhibit these traits. This award is not intended to reward creativity. Anyone may inform a tournament official of a possible OMER’s Award candidate. That official will then determine if that person should be nominated. All nominees are reviewed by a panel that determines the final recipients.
