Indonesian Module – Steps Taken Govt. Quarantine TRACE TEST Isolation Wards • Traced locations and possible route taken by the Indonesians during 48 hours spent at Karimnagar. • Active Surveillance by Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) around the Epicenter and passive surveillance in the Buffer Zone area. • Structured Rapid Fever Survey (format based) in 36,074 HHs by 150+ Health Teams covering a population of 1,36,348 over 3 days. • IDSP & SB identifies 73 Primary Contacts (High Risk) and hundreds of Secondary Contacts. • 73 Primary Contacts quarantined and drawn samples. Local Transmission – Containment Plan • P1 tests positive on 23rd March – Containment Plan • Cordoned-off an area of 600m radius area covering 3500+ HHs. • No movement zone. Physical movement in/out of the area restricted. • Dialogue with Community Religious Heads Public Representatives Intellectuals & Senior Citizens • Deployment of 90+ Police ranks • Supply of essentials (vegetables, milk, groceries, medical, ATM) at the doorstep. Containment Plan - Implementation • Health Camp has been set up in this area • 3 Primary Contacts of the P1 tested positive • 2nd round of Active Surveillance post 14 days taken up on 31st March, 2020 covering 2613 HHs and balance HHs coverage is under progress. Home Quarantine • 622 international travel people have been restrained to home quarantine for 28 days. • Each of them have been stamped by inedible ink and handed over a kit (Instructions pamphlet, mask, sanitizer). • Instructions sticker on such HH and encouraged Community Watch. • Multi-disciplinary teams monitored compliance twice a day. • Random calls to the neighbours from the District Control Room for feedback. Delhi Module & Other Steps Taken • 19 Delhi (having attended special gathering) returned people are traced and drawn samples. • Out of these, 11 tested negative, 3 tested positive and balance 5 results awaited. • 38 Primary Contacts (High Risk) of the confirmed +ve cases are traced and shifted to quarantine. Samples drawn for testing. • Active Surveillance through Rapid Fever Survey covering 929 houses surrounding +ve cases of Delhi returned people has been carried out. • In addition to these, meetings have been conducted with Private Medical Practitioners through IMA, Karimnagar Branch, RMPs / PMPs on restrain to treat any patients with such symptoms and to direct to the DH. • Pharmacies and Druggists are instructed not to sell without a Doctor’s prescription and to refer to a physician for guidance. • Local intelligence from RRTs being gathered on possible symptomatic cases. Hospital Preparedness • All facilities in place at the District Hospital (200 beds, 20 ICU), CAIMS (500 beds, 50 ICU), PIMS (500 beds, 150 ICU). • Similarly, at the Sub Division level, facility at Huzurabad (50 beds, 5 ICU). • Govt. Quarantine facility with 250+ bed capacity under usage. • 503 people have visited the Triage till date and total samples drawn are 219. Capacity building of Medical Officers and staff taken up. • Supply of PPEs, N95 masks, VTMs and other materials being ensured. • Rational use of supplies is being inculcated through training sessions and WHO consultants. Janta Curfew / Lockdown / Night Curfew • Janta Curfew was voluntarily observed by one and all on 22nd March, 2020. • Lockdown since 23rd March, 2020 is being implemented. • Night curfew from 7pm – 6am by 570+ Police ranks • Application of technology – Drone, Mobile Command Control, CCTVs • District Control Room at the Collectorate – Essential Commodities Committee to tackle Supply Chain issues – Price Monitoring Committee Karimnagar District ‐ Telangana State 12 COVID 19 Preparedness & Containment
IEC and Awareness Activities • Awareness among – Religious leaders to avoid mass gatherings – Local public representatives – Various associations / stakeholders • Social media blitzkrieg - Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook to reach out. • Hoardings in Telugu, Urdu and English languages. • Distributed 50,000 posters & pamphlets • Communication through Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and other groups. • Regular Press briefings and media releases • Auto miking in Urdu, Telugu and English Karimnagar District ‐ Telangana State 13 COVID 19 Preparedness & Containment
Social Distancing • Large crowded vegetable markets are temporarily shifted to other spacious locations. • Mini / Colony Veg Markets established in the urban areas • Mobile Rythu / Farmer Bazaars launched. • Door-delivery of various services being encouraged. • e / m - Commerce being facilitated • Surveillance teams for each division / village for implementation of Social Distancing. • Marking made mandatory at all commercial places and responsibility fixed with the vendors. Special Sanitation Drive • Usage of Sodium hypochlorite solution and bleaching powder for public places. • Drones, 3 Fire tenders, 5 tractor mounted jet guns, 140 automatic power sprayers being used. • Specialized safety suits for sanitation workers. • Each sanitation worker is given 2 sanitizers, 6 reusable masks, two pairs of permanent gloves. • Masks and sanitizers by MEPMA Karimnagar District ‐ Telangana State 15 COVID 19 Preparedness & Containment
Assistance to Migrant Labour • As per the instructions of the State Govt., 15,000+ migrant labourers have been identified and provided with 12 Kg rice + Rs.500 per person. • Function halls blocked for migrant labour travelling on foot. Food, medical assistance being provided. 4 such shelters under operation. • Two Annapurna canteens providing free lunch every day. • Municipalities coordinating food donation by private agencies and individuals. • Revenue authoritites coordinating dry ration donations. • NGOs tied up to provide food for 1000+ people. • Medical aid being provided by PHCs / UHCs Karimnagar District ‐ Telangana State 16 COVID 19 Preparedness & Containment
