MESSAGE FROM COSAFA PRESIDENT DR PHILLIP CHIYANGWA W e are delighted to see the return of the 2019 COSAFA U20 Youth Championship to Zambia for the third year running after the hugely successful events staged in 2017 and 2018. It is always exciting to see the next generation of young stars from our Southern African region that will provide the backbone for our senior national teams in the future. But as much as we take joy in this, for the players it is a huge opportunity to showcase their talent and catch the eye of the watching world, perhaps providing them with a springboard in their fledgling careers. COSAFA’s mandate is to develop football in the Southern African region and our Under-20 Championship goes to the heart of that. It is not just the players who benefit, but referees, coaches and administrators all get the opportunity to see a major international competition from the inside out. That is invaluable and we are very proud of the commitment we have made in this regard and delighted with the results we have seen so far. HOW TO FOLLOW THE In 2019 alone we have already hosted our senior Men’s and Under-17 2019 COSAFA ACTION! competitions, as well as highly-successful Women’s senior, Under-20 and There are a number of ways you can keep Under-17 championships. 2019 COSAFA U20 Youth Championship IN NUMBERS The 2019 COSAFA U20 Youth Championship sees the top young talent in the region gather to showcase their potential. After the successful hosting of the championships in the last two years, Zambia will again welcome the competing teams as South Africa defend the title they have won for the last two years.
