Chairperson’s Report 2017 In coming to the end of another eventful year it is my to the Insurance Institute of Ireland, particularly for their pleasant duty to extend thanks and appreciation to the valuable assistance with our Website. many who have helped to make my task so pleasurable and easy. Our long standing sponsors of the magazine’s Brick Wall are owed huge gratitude for without them we could not survive. As always, to the fore was our Secretary/ Treasurer Gerard Dowling who as usual carved his own particular I am delighted to mention also the Life Insurance mark in bringing us all up to date on the years events as Association, who with their President Pat O’Sullivan made a they gradually unfolded. Vice President Douglas GC., John Boylan was invited to speak, and paid tribute to ARIS and the continuing and developing relationship of Douglas GC and ARIS. Buiochas mor. John recalled his friendship with Alan Fitzgerald, Rays son, who in their youth, caused damage to Ray’s house because of a misguided football! John as a solicitor reminded Ray that such acts were of minor vandalism were now statute barred and as such he felt safe in owning up as any remedy was now beyond the Finbarr McGrath, Chair 2015, being presented with legal process. The latter has a lift from which the best views of Venice/San Marco can be enjoyed, and no queues!! The church has Titans and Tintorettos! It is best to stay in Venice itself, rather than the lido, and reasonable accommodation can be found in the former convents, but many have a 10.30pm curfew!. Venice, despite having a marvellous food market, is not renowned for its cuisine. Good restaurants in Venice are expensive, but good piazzas and spag bol are available and panini (sandwiches).
