Thank you for opening the pages of the Cardinal Community Education brochure! We just know you?ll find a class (or two!) you?ll be curious to try! The Cardinal CLC, is a ?school within a school?that serves as a community learning hub for the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District. A myriad of opportunities offer students a place to explore outside of the traditional classroom and our community members a welcoming environment in which they can feel at home while they learn. Our programs include: · Voyagers Middle School After School Program · B-Free Puppetry and Protecting You, Protecting Me (AODA Programming) · Student Connections (middle school groups) · Cardinal Community Education · Special Community Events The Cardinal CLC utilizes school space during the day, evening, and weekends to facilitate exploration and programming in the areas of extended academic support, art and culture, health and social service, civic engagement, and best of all, FUN! CCLC Community Education Coordinator Life can get so busy and when it gets busy, we turn to take out and drive thru meals, which is not good for the waistline or the wallet. Help your family stay healthy, manage your food budget and keep your sanity by prepping freezer meals for those busy nights! Participants will walk away with f ive m eals ready for their freezer. Meals will serve four - that?s $3.00 per person per meal - much cheaper than fast food. If you have a larger family, feel free to register for two people and take home two sets of meals. We will prepare several dishes during class for participants to sample and witness first hand why this time saving appliance is a must have for every busy family. Instructor Students will use the Kentucky 4-H Babysitting curriculum to learn about the responsibilities of babysitting. They will learn about developmentally appropriate play, be able to provide guidance and discipline and gain the confidence needed to handle situations they encounter when they babysit, including handling emergencies and how to provide first aid if needed. Students will also learn how to negotiate the business details involved in babysitting. You Au t o Kn ow Travis Tainter? CFHS Tech. Ed Teacher This course is a must have for anyone who wants to learn more about their vehicle and why it?s important to properly maintain it. Instructional and hands on, participants will learn what are the key things to look at for routine maintenance, how to search and compare prices for anything from repairs, maintenance, body work, insurance, etc. and how you can save money by knowing what to look for. This course will meet the first night in the classroom and the second night will allow for the participants to bring their vehicle into the shop to perform inspections. Fee includes basic tools for basic maintenance checks at home. It may help you clear your head, make important connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and even buffer or reduce the effects of mental illness! Learn the art of bookmaking by creating your own lotus journal to take with you, along with some beginner journaling exercises. Join us as we take a tour of this hydro plant, the first one built by Northern States Power in Wisconsin. Learn how the power of water is harnessed for energy. What is a supercomputer? Join us at the Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology to learn about the unique and groundbreaking innovations in industry and technology that were developed right here in the Chippewa Valley. The museum was opened in May 1998 and now has a variety of exhibits that include the Seymour Cray Supercomputer Collection, Leinenkugel's, Mason Companies Inc., and other area historic exhibits. The convent was built in 1881. Over 17 rooms on three floors have been dedicated to the display of historical artifacts from Chippewa Falls and Chippewa County. Between the convent and the church is the Father Goldsmith Chapel, which can be toured by visitors. In the lower level below the Chapel altar is the crypt of Father Goldsmith, the first priest in Chippewa County. Participants will have their choice of repurposed maple syrup buckets to fill with whatever fresh greenery, red twig, birch and winterberry they choose for their favorite look. A great way to kick off the winter season. Bring any lights, bows or other embellishments you want to add for your own special touch. Jay prefers to paint with people who have no experience painting, don?t want to paint and who can?t draw stick men. Experienced artists are welcome too. Instructor This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. Christmas Bus Trip Wedn esday, Decem ber 11 Our 2nd annual Christmas bus trip will be sure to get you in the mood for the holidays! You don?t want to miss this fun day trip to St. Paul. MN. Ou r f ir st st op will be at the Como Zoo for a behind the scenes tour of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, including a tour of their famous holiday flower show in the sunken garden. Then we head to ou r 2n d st op, the DayTrippers Dinner Theater in Bloomington, MN for lunch and matinee performance of ?Jacob Marley?s Christmas Carol?. This show is a spin off of the classic Ebenezer Scrooge tale that we all know. This show features Jacob Marley, Scrooge?s departed, doomed, and chained business partner. In this behind-the-scenes retelling of one of the most famous holiday stories of all time, join Marley and an annoying little sprite named Bogle, as they set out on an impossible adventure to save Scrooge?s soul in this laugh out loud and heartwarming play. Ou r 3r d an d f in al st op will be at Cabela?s in Woodbury, MN where you can do some shopping or simply wander and look at all the wildlife and holiday displays. We will stop at Portillo?s (an Illinois landmark restaurant since 1963 that is famous for their hot dogs, italian beef sandwiches and fresh grilled hamburgers) right across from Cabela?s for a quick snack/dinner before leaving for Chippewa Falls.
