Our culture, history and art are now more present in Tāmaki Makaurau. This feels amazing because as Māori I am connected, I am tied to these places and spaces through whakapapa. This also brings an obligation and duty which links me and my work to Tāmaki Makaurau. “When I create artwork for a place like Silo Park or Karangahape Road my inspiration comes from mana whenua; its history, as well as my weaving and carving knowledge. “Collaboration on these projects works well; I get to work with some wonderfully talented people.
