(JI) • Two JIs v Senior Clerkship -JI Medicine v Senior Clerkship -JI Any • Student has more direct role in patient care • Similar to an internship • Much higher level of responsibility for patients.
• Required ü Don’t confuse with JI Any in Medicine ü Can do MICU or Ward • More experience in patient care than M3 • Available in Memphis, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Nashville • No written examination • Evaluation based on clinical performance • Graded A-F
Senior Clerkship - JI ANY • Required • FM, Med, Neuro, Ob, Oto, Peds, Psych, Sur, Uro • Evaluation based on clinical performance • Graded A-F
• Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, and Urology v One week of each • Memphis – available all Blocks except 5*, 6, 12 • Knoxville – available all Blocks except 6, 12 and 1 • Chattanooga – available only Blocks 4, 5, 10 • Graded Pass/Fail • No absences allowed for interviews*****
• One/two week of content area during 4 wk. block v Anesthesiology v ICU-12 days v Radiology • Graded Pass/Fail • Options: v If completed one month of Rad., Anesth., or ICU can substitute week of Cardiology and/or Infectious Disease • Schedule early in year • Not available in second Block 5***

• Cost - $1275 (plus expenses) (CK=$600) • One-year eligibility • Can switch dates without charge 14 days prior • Have to pass all three components of exam • Sept.- Dec. high demand time period • Schedule early • Deadline for taking Steps v Step 2CK (NLT Oct 31) v Step 2CS (NLT Oct 31)

Have an idea but not sure . . . • Look at LSP website, SCORE, contact department QI officers and residency program directors for QI opportunities. • Contact Kimberlee Norwood • She will assist you or she will refer you on to the appropriate course director. • Get approval before investing time, effort or travel. • Talk to Dr. Dassow before any Mission Work.
Procrastinators Beware! • You will sign up for Poster sessions on OLSEN this fall. • Once the later options fill, you could be assigned to present your poster as early as the Fall of 2017. • Early presentations may be included on your CV for residency applications – can be very helpful in the interview. • If you don’t complete the Foundation curriculum, you can’t pass the 5 hour course.
