As part of KQED’s ongoing commitment to share our buzzworthy podcast efforts with radio listeners, The Bay is headed to KQED 88.5 FM for a radio special. Previous radio specials have seen KQED podcasts Rightnowish, Bay Curious and MindShift feature some of their best stories for Bay Area listeners. Rightnowish brought its “Big Love” series on air, while Bay Curious explored the history of the Donner Party, for example. You can also subscribe to The Bay’s twice-weekly podcasts via Spotify, Apple Podcasts or your favorite platforms. PODCASTS What are the best podcasts to listen to right now? We asked Sophie Kim, KQED’s Editorial + Production Assistant. Here are her picks. STARTER EPISODE “One Year After Atlanta Spa Shootings, More Disturbing Reports of Anti-Asian Hate” The format of KQED’s Forum podcast is great, especially because listeners get to engage in meaningful conversation on a live show. In this episode, host Mina Kim talks with other Asian Americans about their thoughts and feelings on the anniversary of the tragic hate crime. STARTER EPISODE “Eunice Chang aka @notcheetos — Fun With Dumb — Episode 161” Fun With Dumb is a weekly podcast hosted by Korean American rapper Dumbfoundead — aka Jonathan Park — that showcases people from all walks of life. In this episode, Dumbfoundead and friends Steffie and Lyricks talk with Eunice Chang, a 28-year-old Korean American female skateboarder, about community, mindset and dealing with haters. KQ E D . The Hour Don’t miss this Emmy award-winning and Golden Globe- nominated drama and espionage thriller that delves into the high-stakes world of television news. With the Suez Crisis brewing in the background, a small team of British journalists launches an hour-long investigative news show on British television called The Hour. Ben Whishaw (Spectre), Romola Garai (Emma) and Dominic West (The Affair) headline an all-star cast that includes Anna Chancellor (Ordeal by Innocence), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones). It is truly fun television that begs for bingeing so I’m excited that that Passport members get access to the whole series starting May 1 (broadcast viewers will be able to catch The Hour starting May 10 on KQED Plus). — Meredith Speight, Director of TV Programming The Hours; photo courtesy of © Kudos Film & Television Limited.
