2 November 2019 Dear Parents/Guardians, Challenge Week 2020 I am writing to you regarding our Challenge Week which will take place from 13th – 16th July 2020. All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be involved, and this booklet gives parents and students an outline and overview of each activity. Each activity has focused upon the characteristics which students need to develop if they are to be high performers. The Values, Attitudes and Attributes (VAAs) and/or Advanced Cognitive Performance Characteristics (ACPs) for each challenge are identified in the booklet. You will need to select your choice, using your Wisepay account, unless you are wishing to choose one of the free activities, in which case you will need to complete the slip at the end of the booklet and return to reception. You will be able to secure a place for one of the paid for activities by paying the specified deposit, or full amount, when activities go live on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 at 8am. Deposits and selection will be available until Friday 13th December 2019. Places will be limited for each activity and activities will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We therefore recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment as many of the activities filled up very quickly last year. If your first choice of activity is full and no longer available, then please select another activity. Should you not opt in for an activity by Friday 13th December 2019 then your son/daughter will be allocated free on-site PE. Please note that for all activities that cost £75 or less, we require the full payment. For activities which cost more than £75 then the deposit will be outlined on the individual activities page on Wisepay. For any activity which is free then please complete and return the reply slip at the back of the booklet and return it to reception by Friday 13th December. Deposits for trips are non-refundable unless another student can be found to take your son/daughter’s place. Please also be aware that any activity which does not attract a viable number of students may be subject to cancellation, in which case your deposit will be refunded and you will then need to choose another activity. Activities are subject to change depending on availability of venues once we know numbers for each activity. Finally, any student that accrues a poor behaviour record during this academic year (2019-2020) will not be permitted to take part in any off-site activity and no refunds will be payable. Your sincerely, Moira Watts Deputy Headteacher www.maplesden.kent.sch.uk
