RRI in the Regional sphere ✓ In MARIE, partners from 8 regions face these challenges together in the context of their Smart Specialisation priority Sectors. Their objective is to improve regional public policy that supports delivery of RRI to enterprises’ product, process and service design, production and distribution. Changes are expected in projects funded by policy instruments and in policy management structures and strategic focus, including integration of RRI criteria and RRI as a horizontal concept. ✓ MARIE achieves this through exchanging experiences on 3 types of support action contained in the RRI framework: Quadruple Helix; Open Innovation; Information & Tools for RRI application. ✓ One of the initiatives launched in Galicia consists in a working group to discuss and suggest actions to fully embed RRI into the regional research and innovation policies and instruments, supplementing the RIS. CETMAR makes part of this group.
MARIE Project • Programme: Interreg st Europe • Duration: 5 years (1 January 2017-31st December 2021) • 10 Partners from 8 EU regions Objective: Improve regional public policy that supports delivery of RRI in design, production and distribution of innovations in S3sectors. MARIE achieves this through the following mechanisms: ✓ Exchange of experiences on 3 types of support action contained in the RRI framework: Quadruple Helix; Open Innovation; Information & Tools for RRI application. ✓ Study Visits 6
Activities performed in Galician Region so far ➢ Analysis of the general situation of RRI in the Region ➢ Good Practices identification in R+D and innovation activities in both bussinesses and public administration initiatives. ➢ Participation in the Interregional Learning Events together with the rest of the project partners 7
Creation of Regional Stakeholder Group for RRI in the Region In order to discuss and suggest actions to fully embed RRI into the regional research and innovation policies and instruments, supplementing the RIS3. CETMAR makes part of this group. Some of the issues currently under discussion are: RRI Award to the most innovative regional initiative Introducing RRI Principles in regional funding schemes and initiatives (i.e. calls for proposals) as a compulsory element in innovation projects 8
