2021 OVER 34/65 MENS MASTERS FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 26TH-28TH MARCH Chairmans Welcome to the Over 34 and 65’s Welcome to the return of NSW Men’s Masters hockey tournaments for 2021. It has been twelve months since we last held a tournament and I am sure a lot of players are keen to restart their masters career. It has been a difficult time for all. At present it looks like we will be able to run our tournaments this year albeit with some changes to comply with COVID rules. It is important that players appreciate the need for care and don’t become complacent. We don’t wish hockey to be a super spreader event. Thank you to Central Coast for hosting this tournament. It is a long time since an event has been held here. It is encouraging to see 13 over 34’s and 13 over 65’s teams. It was not that long ago when there were only a handful in each age group. Enjoy the competition and renewing of friendships. The master’s committee is com- mitted to providing quality tournaments for master’s players to keep them in the sport and keep them healthy. Master’s players are the backbone of hockey administration and coaching and are essential for the sport. The committee has big plans for 2022 to pro- vide more hockey for master’s players. 2021 OVER 34/65 MENS MASTERS FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 26TH-28TH MARCH CCHA Presidents Welcome Message On behalf of the Central Coast Hockey Association and our members, I would like to welcome all players, officials, coaches, managers, umpires and families to Central Coast this weekend for the Hockey NSW O34’s and O65’s Mens Masters State Champi- onships. We are a very proud to be hosting these State Championships after the upgrade of our 2 synthetic pitches in 2020 during what was a very trying time for the hockey commu- nity. It is great testament to the hard work of many people in recent years that we are finally able to host State Championship carnivals here on the Central Coast again. I hope that all players and officials enjoy playing on our excellently prepared 2 synthetic pitches and our facilities during the weekend. I would also like to thank all our Sponsors and local businesses that have provided goods and services to the Central Coast Hockey community to ensure this is a great carnival. Also a huge thank you to our committee, clubs, members and parents for their tireless efforts in bringing together such a great carnival. Finally, best of luck to all players and umpires, I hope that you play and officiate well and with the true spirit of sportsmanship. 2021 OVER 34/65 MENS MASTERS FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 26TH-28TH MARCH CHAMPIONSHIPS GUIDELINES OVER 34 & 65 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2021- CENTRAL COAST MATCH TIMES: All matches at Central Coast will be 25 minutes each-way with a 5 minute half-time break and 5 minutes between games. The game clock maybe stopped in extreme weather conditions, but not for injury, penalties, or any other reason. The Tournament Directors has the authority to change the draw and match times due to exceptional un- foreseen circumstances. TEAM SHEETS AND SCORECARDS: Before each game Managers must lodge with the Technical Bench a completed Team Sheet and indicate the eleven starting players and bench players. The Technical Bench will check the starting eleven and mark any substitutions used during the game. Man- agers/captains and umpires will sign Team Sheets and Scorecards at the conclusion of games which will confirm the correct result. The Team Sheets is to display an ‘M’ for Mouthguard, ‘S’ for Shin Pads, or ‘B’ for Both in the exemption column allowing players to play without a mouthguard and/or shinpads. The Technical Bench has the right to instruct a player to leave the field if a player is not wearing a mouthguard and/or shinpads and the appropriate endorsement is not noted on the Team Sheets. The player can only return to the field either by wear- ing the missing Mouthguard or Shin Pads, or by signing the waiver form (held with the Tournament Directors). UMPIRES: An Umpire Convenor Chris Teare (Mob 0434 977 077) will allocate umpires to each match. Those named will be chosen from either the panel engaged for the Champion- ships, or from individuals nominated by the participating Associations. Any Association unable to provide umpires for any of their nomination sides can re- quest the Masters Committee to provide an umpire and an appropriate fee will be charged. Likewise, if any Association who does not fill their umpire commitment or provide a substandard umpire for that grade will incur an appropriate fee. All nominated umpires MUST report into the Umpire Convenor prior to the first game of the championships and be suitably attired whilst umpiring. HOCKEY RULES FIH Rules of hockey will apply at this Championship as interpreted and broadcast by Hockey New South Wales. Rule changes brought in this year can be clarified with the Umpire Convenor. A points system will apply for awarding of penalty cards. Green Card = 1 point, Yellow Card = 5 points, Red Card = 10 points. Accumulation of 10 points will mean a suspension of 1 game and be subject to a review by the TD. (The TD may refrain from imposing an automatic suspension in order to avoid any obvious miscarriage of justice). 12
2021 OVER 34/65 MENS MASTERS FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 26TH-28TH MARCH Points awarded per round games are: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and nil points for a loss. Forfeit pool games will incur a 3-0 loss. DIVISIONS: Over 34A Division: There will be one pool comprising of 5 team playing a round robin., followed by semi-finals and a final. After the round games the 1st placed team will play the 4th placed team, the 2nd placed team will play the 3rd placed team in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals advancing to the 34A division final. Over 34B Division: There will be one division comprising of 8 team and are split into 2 pools of 4 playing a round robin., followed by semi-finals and a final. After the round games the 1st placed team in Pool A will play the 2nd placed team in Pool B, the 1st placed team in Pool B will play the 2nd placed team in Pool A in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals advancing to the 34B division final Over 65A Division: There will be one division comprising of 7 teams and will play 4 games in a random draw. After the round games and the points are calculated the 1st placed team will play the 4th placed team, and the 2nd placed team will play the 3rd placed team in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals advance to the 65A divi- sion final. Over 65B Division: There will be one division comprising of 6 teams and will play 4 games in a random draw. After the round games and the points are calculated the 1st placed team will play the 2nd placed team in the 65B division final. SEMI-FINALS and FINALS In the event of a draw in the semi-final the result will be determined by a penalty shoot- out and the winner will advance to the final. If there is no winner after each team has completed 5 shoot-outs further shoot-outs will be taken on a sudden death basis until a winner is decided. The Tournament Director will officiate in the shoot-out and will ad- vise both teams of time limits. If the final is drawn at full-time, golden goal extra time of two 5 minutes halves will be played. If, at the end of extra-time, the match is still drawn then a penalty shoot-out will be held (same as in semi-finals). NOTE: The drop-off system will not be used.) PLAYER QUALIFICATION Associations can register 18 players for each team (2 GK & 16 field players) they field in the Championships. A player must be actively registered, and his details are listed on the official team list before playing in any match. A player must participate in 50% of round games to qualify to play in Final series (semis, finals and relegation matches). Once a player has taken the field in a round game he cannot then play in a lower divi- sion. A lower division player may play in a higher division but then becomes part of the higher division team and cannot return to the lower division team. The Team Manager must register such team changes with the Tournament Director before the match is played. If the Tournament Director is NOT advised of changes and a player takes the field then the respective team may be deemed to forfeit the game. 13
2021 OVER 34/65 MENS MASTERS FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 26TH-28TH MARCH REGISTRATION All players MUST be registered via NSW Hockey either as a Adult Membership or Mas- ters Only status. If a player is not registered, he will NOT be allowed to take the field of play. If, in a championship a player plays in any match in which they are ineligible to play (unregistered, comes from a higher grade or not qualified for the Final series) the players team shall be deemed to have forfeited every match in which such an ineligible player has taken part. If a player is registered as a Masters Only player under the Hockey NSW Registration - Masters ONLY Player and has already played in a Mens Masters State Championships this year he is not eligible to participate in a second Masters State Championships unless he upgrades his registration to an Adult Membership. This upgrade must be completed before he takes the field in any game during the Championships. Any upgrade that is required the player must contact the Tournament Directors and they will arrange for ac- cess to a computer for the player to register on line. All Non-playing officials, ie TD, umpires, managers, medical and Technical Bench are required to be registered under Hockey NSW as an Adult Membership or a Non-Playing Official. Professional Medical staff are exempt provided they have business insurance. All players who are registered with Hockey NSW are covered by insurance with Sportscover. Please see the below links on the website for further information http://www.hockeynsw.com.au/About-Us/Resources/Insurance PROOF OF AGE First time players at Masters Championships must provide suitable proof of age to the Tournament Director prior to their first game. Managers are requested to notify the Tournament Director of first time players. FINISHING RANKING ORDER The finishing ranking order from the previous year is used to determine the starting or- der and the pool positions for the following year’s championships. The finishing ranking order will be determined after the Championships are completed and this ranking will determine promotion and relegation of teams the following year. For promotion purposes the highest ranked team in the lower division will be promoted to the next highest division and the lowest ranked team in the higher division will be demoted to the next lower division. A new rule introduced in 2020 allows for an Associ- ation to have two teams in the one division. However, the committee reserves the right to modify this general guideline if circum- stances change. 14
