Plant give-away
at Ellendale
Residents of Ellendale in Brisbane came
out in force for our second free plant give-
away this year, aimed at promoting thriving
gardens in keeping with the green nature of
the community.
350 plants were given away as part of the initiative,
with each resident eligible to take home four free
plants.
The give-away complements Brisbane City
Council’s Free Native Plants Program, where
ratepayers are entitled to two free plants annually to
green their properties.
With more than 200 homes at Ellendale now
occupied - and a mini-building boom underway -
helping our residents’ gardens to blossom promotes
beautiful streetscapes. Research suggests living in a
green environment has the added bonus of making
people more relaxed and improves their health.
Throughout the nature corridors in the community,
tens of thousands of trees, shrubs and
groundcovers have been planted this year alone.
More than 91 hectares of land at Ellendale will be
retained as green space and natural bushland,
supported by an active replanting program in the
nature corridors. Plant Give-away, Ellendale QLD
