What is a Transportation and Public Realm Enhancement Plan? This Plan will combine our future transportation requirements and our public spaces such as footpaths, landscaping, town squares, roads, parking and natural open spaces to achieve an integrated and enhanced urban setting. The Plan will endeavour to ensure ease of movement by residents throughout the town. It aims to provide an attractive urban environment celebrating the assets of the town and providing space for people to meet others, sit, talk, enjoy being outdoors and for businesses to flourish.
What do we want to achieve? • Create a vibrant town centre, a place where people can meet, shop, do business and have fun; • Provide the built environment to assist rejuvenating business within the town centre • Encourage greater number of residents to walk and cycle in the town • Improve access to educational, social and employment opportunities The focus of the Plan includes: • Creating attractive and safer streets • Improving pedestrian access throughout the town • Promoting greater cycle use by residents • Enhancing public transport services and facilities • Managing parking in key public areas • Directing traffic movements in town
Vision “This Plan will provide the framework for an integrated transport network for Carrigaline with a focus on rejuvenating the town centre, creating a vibrant environment connected by enhanced cycle and pedestrian amenities for residents and promoting connectivity with surrounding communities.”
