Cardinal Newman High School’s 2020 Spring Legacy Gala presents Saturday, March 21, 2020 Vintners Inn / John Ash & Co. 4350 Barnes Road · Santa Rosa · California
March 21, 2020 Dear Cardinal Newman High School Community, Welcome to our 2020 Spring Legacy Gala - GIN & JAZZ! - Celebrating the roaring 20s in 2020! This gala event marks the significance and importance of offering young women and men the opportunity for developing their best in academic and co- curricular achievement, while growing their faith life experience. We appreciate your attendance and support tonight. We have received so many blessings this year and we are truly grateful! Our Capital Campaign work achieved many major milestones and we are beginning to realize this hard work. Our students and coaches have enjoyed two seasons of sporting events on our new All-Weather Turf Stadium Field. Our new Two-Story Classroom Building construction will begin this Spring. And the funding for our new Student Union is moving ahead at a rapid speed. We are grateful to our donors who have helped us accomplish these enormous tasks at a pace that we never thought possible! We are blessed! This evening’s Fund a Vision - Final Paddle Raise will support the funding for our new Student Union. We realize many of you have already given to the campaign, or are meeting with our campaign team to determine your participation. This Final Paddle Raise tonight is over and above what you have already given. Thank you for considering another gift. We also want to recognize and thank this evening, our two 2020 John Henry Newman Award recipients, Mr. Darrell Bertacco & Ms. Shawn Bunger, UHS ‘83. We thank them for their support and leadership they have generously shared with our Cardinal Newman community for so many years. Please read about their contributions to our community in the following pages of this auction booklet. On behalf of all of us at Cardinal Newman, thank you for your generosity and support expressed at this evening’s event. The financial results tonight will allow us to advance our efforts for curricular and co-curricular goals for our students. In sincere gratitude, Laura M. Held, President

Tonight, during our Legacy Gala celebration, we recognize and thank our 2020 John Henry Newman Award Recipients M s . S hawn B unger UHS '83 & M r . D arrell B ertacco 2020 J ohn H enry N ewman A ward Just as St. Angela Merici and Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman advanced education of the young in order to prepare them for the world, this year’s recipients have been equally devoted to Catholic education. Shawn’s service to Cardinal Newman High School throughout the years has been exemplary. Her dedication to the support of families with severe financial needs has been the foundation of our Fund A Future tuition assistance program. Her support has benefited many families and inspired others to support this important program. Her work embodies the Christian character of our patrons. We are humbled by her commitment. As a long-time Dads’ Club leader, Darrell’s continuous and reliable dedication to serve our school community at many events each year ensured social and financial success for the school. His unwavering willingness to help our community, whether it is at our Grad Nite, Crab Feed or Golf Tournament, is a stellar example of unselfish volunteerism for others to strive to achieve. As parents, and now alum parents, he and his wife Laurie attend and generously support many of the school’s fundraising events, which exemplifies the Christian character of our patrons. We are humbled by their commitment to Cardinal Newman. Please congratulate them tonight! 2020 Spring Legacy Gala
