Purple Martin Festival On June 16, 2018, you will have the opportunity to take a walking or bus tour to purple martin colonies in Camrose. Watch the birds hunt and socialize and maybe even take a peek inside a nest! The purple martin gurus will provide new purple martin landlords and landlords-to-be with all of the information they need to attract and care for their avian friends. Experienced birders and landlords share the tips and tricks that contribute to their success. Purple Martin females lay an average of 5 pure white eggs, one egg early each morning for several successive days, then incubation begins and lasts for 14-16 days. Purple Martins now need human intervention to provide safe nesting sites, as their preferred natural choices of holes in dead standing trees are no longer easily available. Camrose citizens have significantly increased the number of these beautiful social birds to nest in our community. Join us at the Purple Martin Festival on June 16 to learn how you can help. www.tourismcamrose.com. Creative Reflections Quilt Show Presented by the Battle River Quilters' Guild June 22-23, 2018. The guild members are not only a group of talented quilters; they are a group of friends that happen to enjoy a similar interest in quilting.
