To the Addison Community Dear Fellow Community Members, Welcome to the Addison Park District Summer Activity Guide 2021. We are excited to share programs, classes, and special events with the community again and have a full summer slate of fun, family friendly programs for all to enjoy. We are happy to announce that we have two new Commissioners joining the Addison Park District Board. Please welcome Michael Clementi and Stacey Ruffolo. The Addison Park District Commissioners represent the recreational needs of the community as well as help to create Park District Policy and to oversee the finances of the District. The Park District Board of Directors meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00PM at the Community Recreation Center, 120 East Oak Street. Many of our Comeback Summer Programs include our acclaimed All Star Summer Camp, swim lessons at the Centennial Club Fitness pool, special events throughout the summer, five new children’s preschool classes, the annual preschool open house on June 23rd, reopening of the indoor walking track located in the upper area of the gym that is free for all community members to walk or jog, student summer membership to Club Fitness, more programs from the Senior Club for Active Adults, Putter’s Peak Mini Golf opening with full summer hours, and Kid’s Golf Camp. We are looking forward to a successful summer season and we are here for you, creating new classes and continuing with the programs and service you know and love. Soak up the Sun at ADDISON ALL STAR SUMMER CAMP Kick back and enjoy the sun’s rays while your kids enjoy a variety of summertime activities! Recreational Swim ALL STAR SUMMER Campers will love the opportunity to play swimming games, relay races, and other swim activities with their friends and counselors! Certified lifeguard pool staff will be on duty while campers enjoy the water in a comfortable, safe setting. Your child will take a swim assessment on their first day attending the aquatic facility. The assessment is designed to gauge a child’s swimming skills and comfort level. Participants will be bussed over from Community Rec Center to Centennial Club Fitness. Children’s Garden Gardening is a fun and healthy activity for all too participate. The best way to gain appreciation for nature is by getting outside and experiencing it first-hand! The children’s garden will introduce all camp participants about taking care of the various plants. Gardening will change and improve your child’s life, their community, and the planet. The Children’s Garden will be located within the enclosed grass are located behind the outdoor splash pad. Penny Carnival & Talent Showcase Have fun while raising money for a local charity at Penny Carnival! Your ticket to play at the carnival is a penny! Special Events for Family Fun! Fly a Kite (Virtual Event) MAY-JUNE Kite flying is perfect for warm spring weather and brings wholesome family fun! First 25 participants to register will be given a FREE KITE! This virtual event encourages kids and adults alike to fill the sky with vibrant colors, welcome summer to Addison, and celebrate a gorgeous day outside! While you’re at it, take the whole family for a picnic at one of our various parks! Just be careful not to fly one near power lines or in an electrical storm like Benjamin Franklin did! Aquatics Swim Lessons The Learn to Swim Program is designed to enhance each participant’s ability to progess from one level to the next. It is not unusual for a child to repeat a level more than once before passing. The first class of each session will be the testing day that will allow us to put the child in the appropriate level. The Play Better Golf Academy at Links & Tees will be providing some of the finest golf instruction available in the Chicagoland area. The instructors are excellent and most have been trained by the Director of Instruction, Chuck Lynch.
