WWW.CAFS.ca CAFS@Telus.net FEBRUARY 2021 SEPTEMBER 2020 CAFS Holds It’s First Virtual AGM On February 24th, CAFS hosted its first virtual meeting in its 73 years of existence! It seems proper that this organization’s historic first virtual event was CAFS 2021 Annual General Meeting. The virtual meeting attended by 41 members and guests, was kicked off with a welcome address by Chairman, CAFS President, Brian Haugen. Brian also acknowledged and thanked Board member, Russell Oye /BCIT who administrated the meeting compliments of BCIT. In keeping with AGM protocol, the business portion of the meeting was first to approve the 2020 financial records and secondly, to elect the leaders of the next fiscal cycle. Its the Board of Directors who operate within CAFS bylaws to set the direction and goals of your Association. These volunteer Board Members bring knowledge, dedication and leadership skills to their position. We are proud of their efforts and commitment to this industry and are fortunate to have them giving their time for the betterment of CAFS. Thank you to all of the Directors for their valued input. There was an unanimous approval to re-elect Tommy Deranja and Gord Houghton. As per the by-laws the 2021 Executive positions will be voted on at the next board meeting. After the regular AGM meeting business was taken care of attendees had the opportunity to take part in chat room breaks to discuss ’What topics can CAFS bring to you via virtual meetings in 2021’. See page 13 for a brief list and if you wish to contribute ideas please do. Prior to the wrap up of the meeting, we had some door prize draws. Thank you sponsors: BNAC, Commercial Truck Equipment, Intercontinental Truck Body, Terra-Clean, and West Coast Reduction for contributing to the fun. Golf Tournament Date Now September 16th, 2021 Thank you for your patience golfers… In light of the latest Government changes in restrictions, we have had to make another change to our tournament date. Originally, we had booked the CAFS 2021 tournament for June this year. Just prior to November 2020, Redwoods had been able to have consecutive tee times and up to a maximum of 50 people in their tent to eat at one time. Since the restrictions that came into place last November, they are no longer permitted to do that. Therefore, until these rules are lifted back again to where they can have consecutive tee times with the 50 people in the tent, Redwoods will not be holding golf tournaments. So CAFS was faced with a challenge of these two options: 1. Keep our date in June with hopes that restrictions get lifted again or the tournament will be cancelled. 2. Change our date to the fall with higher hopes that the restrictions are more likely to be lifted by then and our tournament can be held. We chose to go with the latter of the two options as this would give us the highest possible chance of being able to host a tournament in 2021. With that, the new date for CAFS tournament will be: September 16, 2021 (Thursday). We will hold the tournament in the best possible format we can, working with the restrictions in place at that time. Although it will be a different tournament than in the past, we will focus on ways for the tournament to be a successful event for all who attend. Thank you for your understanding as we move forward.
