the cabin. Whatever ideas you may have can be realized once you select your favorite design
elements and features.
Cabin Design
BMW utilizes gorgeous upholstery options in the X5, including:
• SensaTec in two shades
• Vernasca leather (available in five shades)
• Merino leather (available in five shades)
While you can use leather-wrapped controls on your console, you may upgrade them to hand-
crafted Glass Controls, which sparkle with diamond-like elegance.

Cabin Dimensions Determine how much room you want in your X5, by choosing a 2-row model with seating for five or adding an extra row to increase the number of passengers to seven. Cargo Space and Amenities Upon first opening the cargo area through the standard power split tailgate, you’ll see a fully finished space carpeted in silky-soft velour. To open the trunk, press the remote trunk release on your key fob. With all seats in the upright position, the X5 M gives you 33.9 cubic feet of space. The configurable rear seats fold 40/20/40, so that you can tailor the area to accommodate whatever you’re toting to your destination. Once the seats are down, the space expands to a maximum of 72.3 cubic feet. Instead of searching for your keys or losing hold of your packages, the available Comfort Access keyless entry opens the trunk. Convenience Factors

Through your smartphone, control your car from a distance with the available remote engine start.
The BMW Digital Key offers even more assistance by allowing you to lock or unlock your vehicle,
start it remotely, and share access to it with friends and family.
Unique among vehicles, the optional Gesture Control system lets you command your X5 to
complete necessary tasks. The system recognizes five separate gestures that you can learn
and enables you to receive or dismiss calls, increase or decrease the volume, and show off a
wraparound, 360-degree view of your surroundings.
Seating Options
At every trim level, you’ll sink into the front seats that can be adjusted multiple ways for the
ultimate in comfort and visibility. Power front sport seats come standard with 16 ways
of adjustability.

• 2-way power side bolsters
• 2-way manual headrests and thigh support
• Memory system for driver’s seat and exterior mirrors
If you upgrade to the 20-way power multi-contour seats, they include eight massage programs
that offer three levels of intensity. Extra comfort stems from adjustable headrests, backrest and
lumbar support, and memory for seats, exterior mirrors, and the steering column.
In the M trim, 18-way power M multifunction front seats include 4-way lumbar support, and
memory settings for the front seats, steering wheel, and your exterior mirrors.

Comfort and Class
For a warming or cooling effect in the cabin, the X5 supplies you with an extensive menu that
covers it all.
In the hybrid model, an automatic 2.5-zone climate control system circulates the air in your cabin
with individual temperature control for each front seat. For most trims, though, the available
4-zone climate control enables everyone on board to adjust their temperatures.
Beyond the climate control system, the X5 offers the following available devices to adjust the
cabin as you see fit:
• 3-stage heated and ventilated front seats

• Heated steering wheel
In each vehicle, a dual-panel Panoramic moonroof can be found, spanning both the first and

and keep you connected.
Dashboard Displays
Right from the start, a blaze of light emits from the dashboard. Behind the wheel of your X5, the
standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional glows out of the enormous 12.3-inch digital instrument
cluster, depicting your gas gauge and odometer, plus the routes you’re taking.
To stay focused on the road, watch the available Head-Up Display that projects the same
information on your instrument cluster onto your windshield.
In the center of the dashboard, a brilliant 12.3-inch central information display works with the
iDrive 7.0 operating system. Direct the system through your voice, via the touchscreen, or by
using the iDrive touchpad Controller.
You’ll be able to find the right route through the built-in Navigation system, tune in to your music,
or keep up to date with friends and family.
Connectivity
Make and receive calls as well as stream audio in your X5 through either Bluetooth® or Apple

The Active Driving Assistant stands guard with the following standard systems:

Within the Active Protection System, the Fatigue and Focus Alert feature watches out for you by
signaling to you when it appears that you may be consistently drifting.
Like the Active Driving Assistant, other X5 trims receive the Active Guard, which offers Frontal
Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning. Also, you get Automatic City Collision Mitigation
and Braking for extra assurance on the road.
Optional Driver-Assisting Packages

Professional Package supplies you with systems designed to maneuver through traffic with your

Contained in the Active Driving Assistant Pro, it uses a cutting-edge camera/radar system to
conquer the congestion. Traffic Jam Assist and Steering and Lane Control Assistant actively

Parking Assistant Plus locates parking spaces and helps you enter them with aplomb. If you
attempt the space on your own, the Active Park Distance Control lets out audible beeps that
speed up when you get closer to the object in your path.

skills. It also serves as a great record if you happen to get into an accident.
Performance
Experience a fine performance with a total of three separate engines to choose from for your X5.
Engine Specifications
To start in your X5, a 3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine comes standard and
produces 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. This engine can accelerate up to 60 MPH in
5.3 seconds.
Next up, the available 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine produces 523 horsepower and
553 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you’ll reach 60 MPH in only 4.1 seconds.
Go full throttle with the M trim that produces 600 horsepower and races from 0 to 60 MPH
in—gasp—3.8 seconds. If you opt for the Competition package, the horsepower gets a boost up
to 617.

Your X5 gives you rear-wheel drive standard, but choose the xDrive models, and the xDrive stands
for the optional intelligent all-wheel-drive system. These other devices increase your ability to
handle whatever you encounter on the road.
• 8-speed Sport automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes
• Driving Dynamics Control
If you drive the M trim, an 8-speed M STEPTRONIC automatic transmission accompanies the
engine. Either way, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters streamline your shifting.
The standard Driving Dynamics Control customizes your ride with ECO PRO, COMFORT, and
SPORT modes, but if you choose the M model, it offers COMFORT, SPORT, and SPORT+.
Towing Capacity
For drivers planning to tow a trailer with toys, watercraft, or other loads, the X5 tows a maximum of
7,200 pounds when equipped with the optional trailer hitch.

On the hybrid-focused digital instrument cluster, you’ll be aware of your car’s operations. A hybrid
