WHO ARE WE? Waterloo Region’s Business & Education Partnership (BEP) is a charitable organization founded in 2002 to prepare Waterloo Region youth for the future of work. We do this by creating opportunities for local employers to inform, inspire, and positively influence student’s career development. By connecting students, educators, parents, and employers, we contribute to student success and community prosperity.
WHY CARE? Are you an employer whose industry needs more skills and talent? Perhaps a parent or teacher who has the difficult job of preparing young minds to be independent, resilient and motivated? Maybe you are a student yourself, trying to make sense of today, let alone tomorrow. OUR PROGRAMS Our wide range of programs help students find their career path. Our programs INFORM, INSPIRE, and INFLUENCE youth. In other words, they change what students KNOW, THINK and DO. ZOOM Career Days About Available to students in grades 11 & 12, students participate in interactive career exploration workshops that showcase sector-focused industries in the community. The sectors that are highlighted are those aligned with the Specialist High Skills Major program in Waterloo Region, bringing a familiarity to the options being presented to students. Reach and Impact Since the inception of this program, 10,000 students and 1,000 volunteers have participated in ZOOM Career Days. Apps4Learning About With mentorship from an app development specialist, high school and elementary school students collaborate on a curriculum-based app. Elementary school students focus on idea formuation, while high school students focus on creation and design. Throughout the semester, volunteer mentors visit the students and provide assistance when needed. Together, students are able to develop important skills that they will be able to use for years to come.
