FADL is honored to serve the residents of the City of Ferndale. We continually strive to provide resources, services, and programming that reflect the needs and interests of our community. It is through our local engagement that we learn what acquisitions and experiences to try next, so that we can create a destination in Ferndale that we are all proud of. We will continue to move forward with keeping the library facilities updated and responsive to modern needs, providing the best possible return on investment with funding, and planning for the future through responsible fiscal management. Books are important to us! We have spent the last 2 years updating our entire collection! We are replacing older materials and are expanding all of the sections with even more to choose from. Spark your We select a wide variety of Fiction and Non-fiction for all interests with a focus on diversity and inclusivity. The library offers books, audiobooks, magazines, Imagination! graphic novels, DVDs, and music CDs. There’s a new format in the children’s collection from Vox Books. These are books with a built-in digital recording that reads along with your child.

The library also checks out “stuff” We now have puzzles and board games available There are wifi hotspots from T-Mobile so you can take the internet with you The children’s area has added STEM kits with different projects to try Come see our new Seed Library and more to come!
Database Subscriptions The library subscribes to some great resources for Ferndale cardholders: Creativebug from Joann Fabrics & Crafts - Video tutorials and printable instructions for a wide range of crafts & hobbies Mango Languages - Learn a new language, over 70+ available Consumer Reports - Access to all of their articles and product reviews Cypress Resume Builder - Guides you through writing a resume and cover letter with helpful tips and templates AtoZ World Travel - For travelers and knowledge seekers alike, here is a comprehensive travel resource with information about points of interest, security, transportation, food and recipes, culture, language, and more. AtoZ Maps Online - the world’s most comprehensive collection of royalty-free downloadable maps, visual glossaries, video dictionaries, geography learning games, and teacher resources Coming Soon - Lynda.com (soon to be LinkedIn Learning) - Online training courses for business, technology, career, and creative topics
Programming The library hosts events and programs for all ages and all interests. From concerts to authors to personal enrichment, we are constantly bringing in new speakers and topics, so follow us on Facebook to see what we have planned next!
Partnership with Ferndale Public Schools Our librarians partner with each of the schools to bring outreach services right to the classrooms. Some of the programs and services we have collaborated on include: Battle of the Books (FUEL 5th Grade) This summer - Dr. Bazzi’s Book Club at NEST Tuesday Book Checkouts at FMS Lunch Curriculum Nights at the schools Book Club at FMS, Upper and Lower Storytimes at FECC Elementary clubs at the Ferndale Library Library resources training for teachers Weekly librarian visit to FLEL and FUEL libraries for collection development Teacher curriculum support at FHS and UHS 8
