Qualification: 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd qualify from each class. No competitor may qualify from lower than 3rd place. Highest placed amateur and highest placed junior in each class qualify for Amateur and Junior Supreme Championship Finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championship Show September 2022. Cards to be shown and qualification card signed. All Champion and Reserve Champion winners qualify for BSPA Star Championship at WCC. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. In Open classes the highest placed unqualified horse will qualify for the BSHA Classic of the Year Final at the BSHA National Championship Show in September. This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in the B.S.P.S. Classes, whether or not Members of the B.S.P.S. are subject to the Constitution and Rules of the B.S.P.S., including disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the B.S.P.S. 2. Neither the BSPS Scottish Branch Committee, nor any of its Officers, Servants, or Assistants shall be responsible or accountable for any loss, injury or damage to any person, animal, or property in connection with this Show. 3. Each Exhibitor shall abide by and accept as final the decision of the Judges, Referees, Chief Steward and Officials of the Show. 4. The Judges listed in the Schedule have accepted our invitation to Judge, but the Committee reserve the right to appoint substitutes should any Judge withdraw. 5. No Exhibitor may knowingly show a pony under a Judge in circumstances that would constitute a breach of Rule 477 by the Judge. 6. Any pony taking part in Classes judged under B.S.P.S. Rules will be liable to dope testing. 7. Entries will not be accepted without the appropriate fee. An S.A.E. must be submitted with entries if a receipt is required. No numbers will be sent to Exhibitors prior to the Show. Competitors’ numbers should be collected from the Secretary’s Office on the Show Ground. Cheques and Postal Orders to be made payable to BSPS Scottish Branch Ltd. NO entries will be accepted over the telephone. 8. In ALL Classes, correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats, numbers All PAS015, VG1, (BS) EN1384 2017, ASTM F1163 04a onwards, SNELL E2001, SNELL E2016 AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards, MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted. Hats should have a plain cover either Black, Navy Blue, Brown, Grey or Green. Velvet covers are encouraged.
The BSPS encourages members to have their hats tagged through the BSPS Scheme or via the Pony Club scheme. Hat tagging in BSPS classes will be compulsory in 2023. BSPS SCOTLAND ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY ARISING FROM A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REGULATION. HAT CHECKS FOR COMPLIANCE WILL BE MADE. 9. Under no circumstances will entries be changed, refunded, substituted or amended once received. 10. Only animals entered in classes at the BSPS Scotland Spring Show 2022 may use the arenas for exercising. 11. Only tack permissible under BSPS rules may be used whilst mounted anywhere on the showground. 12. On the day entries will be taken from 7.00am. 13. Rule 67 - No member of the BSPS shall conduct himself in a manner or be guilty of behaviour which is derogatory to the character or prejudicial to the interests of the BSPS and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) no Member shall behave in an offensive or abusive or unpleasant matter to any person at any show or at any other location where BSPS business is being transacted or via social media or the internet or via any publication in whatever format or via any other written or electronic format. Members’ attention is drawn to the BSPS Social Media and Internet Policy set out in the back of the BSPS Handbook. 14. Rule 70 – Members are responsible for the actions of any non-members who are Family Members (as defined below) or who are friends or friends of Family Members or who are employed by them or assisting, supporting or representing them or otherwise acting on their behalf and any action or conduct of such non-member which would be a breach of the Rules were he a Member shall constitute a breach of the Rules by the Member concerned. Family Member shall include a spouse or civil partner, a partner, a direct descendant or ascendant of the Member or his spouse or civil partner, brothers, sisters or adopted children of the Member or his spouse or civil partner, or any other person who is part of the same household as the Member or is in the reasonable opinion of the BSPS a member of the Member’s family in the widest sense. 15. The BSPS Scottish Branch/Board of Directors reserve the right to move, change, amalgamate or divide any class, championship or supreme as they deem fit when necessary to facilitate the running of the show. It is therefore the competitor’s responsibility to keep up to date with any changes which may occur during the running of the show. Supreme of Show will be judged after all sections have been concluded. 16. Body protectors MUST be worn when jumping in any WHP and WH classes including practice ring at BSPS Affiliated Shows (including Tiny Tots, Cralde and Nursery Stakes, WSP, LRWSP and Training Stakes). Riders must wear a body protector when working in (practice jumps) and the jumping phase in all BSPS organized and affiliated events. RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR QUALIFIERS This Show is a qualifier for the 2022 BSPS Championships Show to be held at Arena UK. The 1st and 2nd prize winners Open LR, FR, SP, NS and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners in Classes Open Intermediate SRT (including Mixed height), W.H & SHT, CS and Heritage classes the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prize winners in mixed height classes will qualify for the BSPS Championships provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 5 and 21 and ridden by a BSPS member. RULE 5. Exhibitors in qualifying positions, who have never been members of the BSPS are allowed 7 working days in which to become members and register their ponies. Please note this Rule does not apply to classes with HOYS, RIHS, Olympia or Blue Riband Qualifications. RULE 21. Owners, Riders and Ponies must be registered BEFORE the date of the Show at which they qualify, except in the case of exhibitors who have never been members before who are allowed 7 days in which to become members and register their ponies. This Rule does not apply to classes with RIHS or Olympia qualification. 1st Prizewinners in qualifying classes will receive £5 prizemoney. 1st prizewinners in BSHA RIHS Classes will receive £20 prizemoney. All prizemoney must be collected on the day of the show prior to secretaries office closing & before the supreme of show. Any prizemoney not collected will be forfeited. THE BSPS BINKS FAMILY CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions the 1st prize winners in the following classes will qualify:- Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Lead Rein of Hunter Type, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Intermediate SH, SRT and WH and Open Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden and WHP classes.
THE BSPS THE WHITE COMPANY CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS This show is a qualifier for the BSPS The White Company Mini WHP Champion of Champions the 1st prize winners in Open Cradle and Nursery Stakes will qualify. THE BSPS BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES BEST RIDER This show is a qualifier for the “Black Country Saddles Best Rider of the Year” THE ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW – NURSERY STAKES This show is a qualifier for The Royal Highland Show Nursery Stakes 2022. The first 4 placed same pony and rider combination will qualify for the 2022 Royal Highland Show Nursery Stakes provided they have jumped a clear round. Qualification will only move down the line to the next eligible pony and rider combination meeting the qualification criteria. This class is open to both BSPS Members and Non-Members. BSHA CLASSES Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Classes 65-71 are qualifiers for the Open Classes at The Royal International Horse Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). In Open classes the highest placed unqualified horse will qualify for the BSHA Classic of the Year Final at the BSHA National Championship Show in September. BSHA RIHS Amateur Qualifying Classes Classes 72-75 are qualifiers for the inaugural Amateur Championships at the Royal International Horse Show. The highest placed unqualified horse in each section in each class in the Hack, Cob and Riding Horse classes will qualify for the RIHS Amateur final with the two highest placed unqualified horses qualifying in the Maxi Cob Class. The amateur qualifying classes may be entered on a day ticket but qualification cannot be granted to those competing on a day ticket. Amateur BSHA classes are open to horses owned and ridden by an amateur, the rider need not be the owner of the horse. BSHA Classic of the Year The 1st or highest placed prize winners in each Open Affiliated class will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic of the Year Final. The Finals will be held at the BSHA hunter & National Championship Shows in September 2022. SPORT HORSE BREEDING (GB) CLASSES All Hunter Classes will be judged under the 2022 Rules of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. Classes 72-75 classes are qualifying events for the 2022 RIHS and only horses registered on the 2022 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers MUST be quoted on entry forms and owners and members must be members of the society. The two highest placed horses in Classes 72-75 WILL QUALIFY TO ENTER. No horse lower than 2nd in its Class will qualify. Amateur Hunter Classes 76-77 in the Lightweight section, the two highest placed smalls and the two highest placed lightweights will qualify and in the heavyweight section the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. NPS SCOTLAND BLAIR QUALIFIERS The owner of the pony does not have to be an NPS Scotland member for the pony to enter this competition, but the owner of the pony must become a member of NPS Scotland to enter the Blair Final. NPS SCOTLAND FINALS (BLAIR CASTLE) RULES 2022 To be run under NPS Scotland Finals (Blair Castle) Rules 2022 which are on the NPS Scotland website www.npsscotland.co.uk these rules clarify areas particular to NPS Scotland. We also run to the Rules of the NPS and again these can be found on our website. There are new rules this year so please be vigilant and read them. Exhibitors are deemed to be conversant on these rules. VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY First round qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final. Classes 63 & 64. Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their cards in the ring and have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership. It is the competitor’s responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge. Regional Finals are open to members only. All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships, to be held at Arena UK Lincolnshire on 30th September – 2nd October 2022. BSPA ROYAL INTERNTAIONAL SHOW QUALIFIERS These classes are affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association and are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead Tuesday 26th July 2022. Rider age taken from 1st January. Membership and qualification cards must be carried in the ring by competitors and produced as require for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will mean disqualification. Spurs may not be worn in any pony class. Ponies 153cm or under (Shetland exempt) must possess a current JMB height certificate. Competitors qualifying at this show for the Royal International Horse Show 26th- 31st July 2022 must submit their entries by recorded delivery post with full payment within 48 hours of qualifying to the Showing Seccretary, All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, West Sussex RH17 5HU. Caledonian Showing Championships The Caledonian Showing Championships are now well established in the showing calendar and will once again give 2022 competitors the opportunity to compete at a top level Championship Final in Scotland. Evening Performances, loads of bling and razzmatazz .... everything an end of season Championship should have! This year’s show will be held at Highfield @ Howe, near Ladybank, Fife This Show is a qualifier and every horse & pony placed 1st in all Inhand, Ridden Showing classes (not fun classes) & Working Hunter/Pony classes will qualify to compete in any appropriate class at the Finals. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. Qualification is for the Horse & Pony except for Adult/Young Handler classes, where the Handler qualifies.
