Dear Supporter:
It’s a new dawn. It’s a new day. Most of us wake up and start the day driven by things to accomplish
and goals to be reached. Our thoughts are consumed by getting the kids off to school, work projects
that need to be completed and what’s for dinner. The day is planned before we ever leave the
house. Many of us haven’t realized that we have enough because we want more. We go about our
daily lives, oblivious to the fact that, thousands of our veterans are struggling to find good jobs and
to reintegrate. Even worse, they are hungry, homeless or at risk. Veterans struggling with PTSD,
physical limitations, underpaid jobs and a lack of affordable housing start the day concerned with
safety, shelter and food. They are consumed by one basic human need, survival.
Palm Beach County has one of the largest veteran populations in the United States with over
100,000 veterans living here. While many of them have successfully transitioned into civilian life,
there are thousands in our area that have been left behind. Stand Down, an initiative of Faith, Hope,
Love, Charity, Inc., is a local organization dedicated to helping our heroes in need. With full-family
supportive systems, emergency assistance, supportive housing and a variety of other programs,
they provide relief, understanding, loving care and hope.
I am privileged and honored to serve as Honorary Chair for their 14th annual fundraising dinner and
black tie gala. This spring on Saturday, April 2, we will celebrate Restoring Hope, A New Dawn,
Twenty-Eight Years of Supporting and Empowering our Veterans and Their Families.
Our military members are dedicated to our protection and preservation of freedom. Now it is our
turn. Our veterans need our commitment and help. Until we can say “No one has been left behind”,
every penny received makes a difference. I encourage you to join me by stepping up and supporting
the mission of Stand Down, an initiative of Faith, Hope, Love, Charity, Inc. Together we can provide
a bright new dawn by restoring hope, honor and dignity to our heroes in need.
