We hope all of you are staying safe and managing in this very difficult year.
Due to the pandemic, this year we will be conducting the 5th Annual Biostatistics & Clinical Research
Methodology course 2021 online on a virtual platform. The course fee is 5000 INR.
As this is on a virtual platform, we have limited the number of participants to 50 only to make it
interactive and fruitful.
We would like to request you to disseminate and share the program information with your colleagues
and friends.This course may be useful to ex-participants as a revision booster.

Learning Outcomes from workshop
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of computers, and Microsoft office is required. This is an advance program, so we
will teach you all about PubMed, Zotero and SPSS and then how to get the most of it for day-to-day
use. We request you to download software – Zotero and SPSS in your personal laptop.
Workshop 1 (PubMed Search and Zotero):
● Pubmed Search
● Creating account and compiling the articles
● Maintaining bibliography
● Advanced search
● Citation download
● Setting up a database of references from previous literature search
● Adding, Editing and correcting the references in the database.
● Retrieving references stored in Zotero
● Creating a bibliography of selected references
● Inserting references in MS Word document
● Adding journal abbreviations and altering output styles
● How to search the Internet for publications from within Zotero
● How to merge Zotero databases
● How to create a list of references for a large document (e.g., a thesis)
Workshop 2 - SPSS hands on Training
● Apply the basic statistical tests learnt during the course.
● Manipulate variables
● Transform data for analysis
● Recode and compute variables
● Describe data
● Understand the basic principles for choosing and conducting basic statistical tests.
● Perform the following basic statistical tests using SPSS using a data set :
a) Check normalcy of data
b) Parametric and nonparametric tests
c) Chi square and Fisher exact test
d) Student t-Test and Mann-Whitney U test
e) Kaplan Meier curve
f) Regression analysis.
