1. Team Mauritius was officially launched on Friday 5 February 2021 at Cote d’Or National Sports Complex. Team Mauritius is a Unit operating under the Ministry and is in line with the policy to create from an amateur to an elite sports environment. Sum disbursed Rs 60.5m. 2. The Ministry has reviewed the Guidelines regarding assistance to National Sports Federations in order to streamline procedures related to requests and ensure greater accountability and transparency at all levels.
High Level Sports Assistance Scheme 114 elite athletes, 10 sparring partners and 2 guide runners were financially supported through the High-Level Sports Assistance Scheme. Support to Elite Athletes As announced in the budget 2021-2022, 124 elite athletes benefitted a one-off grant of Rs 10,000 in August 2021 for the purchase of sport equipment.

1st World Deaf Short Course Swimming Championships (Venue & Date: Gliwice, Poland 15 – 20 November 2021) Mr Suffian Ropun established 3 new national records during these Championships • 100 m Medley : 1.16.96 • 50 m Breaststroke: 35.60 (Old Record: 35.76) • 100 m Freestyle: 1.03.38 (Old Record: 1.04.82) • MYESR disbursed Rs 236,900/-, provided transport, medical and logistic facilities.
TOUR DE MAURICE 2- 6 NOV 2021 • Christopher LAGANE won the Tour de Maurice . • The tour had 11 teams aligned with a total of 38 cyclists with 4 teams from Reunion Island and one team from France. • MYESR disbursed Rs. 691,197/-, provided transport and logistic facilities.
Other Major Competitions JUDO: African Senior Judo Championships 2021 (1 Silver & 1 Bronze) At the World Senior Judo Championships held in Budapest, Hungary from 6 to 13 June 2021. Remi Feuillet was ranked 7th at WSJC and selected to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. A total of Rs. 610,441/- was disbursed for both championsips. BOXE FRANCAISE: World Cup Assaut Seniors held in in Weiz, Austria from 26-28 July 2021 (1 gold, 1 silver) Baulliuck World Combat Championships held from 28 July to 01 August 2021 (1 Remi silver, 3 bronze). MYESR contributed Rs. 205,785/- in this event. BADMINTON: All Africa U15 and U19 Badminton Championships held in Cotonou, Benin from 19 Aug to 01 Sept 2021. In U15, Mauritius won 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medals & in U19, Mauritius won 3 Bronze medals. MYESR contributed a sum of Rs. 1,494,900/-. KICKBOXING: 26th WAKO Kickboxing World Cup, held in Budapest, Hungary from 16 to 19 Sept 2021, Mauritius won 3 Gold and 1 Silver medals. At Senior and Master World Championships, in Jesolo Lido, Italy from 15 to 24 Oct 2021, Mauritius won 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. MYESR contributed a sum of Rs. 689,600/- SWIMMING: 14th Africa Seniors Swimming Championships held in Accra, Ghana from 11 to 16 October 2021. Mauritius won 1 Silver medal. To insert new photo TABLE TENNIS: Mauritius Won a Bronze medal in the Team Event at the African Table Tennis Senior Championships 2021 held from the 1 to 7 September 2021 in Cameroon. MYESR contributed Rs. 489,360/- PETANQUE: Mauritius “Triplettes” participated at the World Petanque Championships, 11 to 21 November 2021, Spain and reached the Quarter Finals for the first time.
