Join us for the 5th Annual Banner Up! event! This popular program is sponsored by City of Brentwood
Economic Development, City of Brentwood Arts Commission and Art Guild of the Delta (AGD). This is
a great way for artists to get their art out in the community and in both local and regional media. We
welcome artists of high school age and older. There is no cost for artists to participate.

Banner Up! will display originally designed and painted 24” x 48” banners throughout downtown
Brentwood. This area includes City Park, Oak, 1st, 2nd and Chestnut Streets. Banners will be installed
and flown from June through September. They will be displayed during Brentwood’s Farmers’ Market
season. The banners will come down the end of September. An online auction will be held from June
through September to offer the banners for sale to the public. Proceeds of each banner sale will be split
between the artist, Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble, and Art Guild of the Delta.

ARTISTS ELIGIBILITY
  ● Art Guild of the Delta (AGD) invites all working artists; including practicing high school or
     college art students, to participate in the Banner Up! program.
  ● Entries will reflect and coincide with public art guidelines to enhance a youthful, playful, active
     and/or recreational theme. Banner entries related to the arts and culture or Brentwood are also
     desirable.
  ● All entries will be original designs by the artist. No plagiarized artwork will be accepted.
  ● Entries must not defame or invade the rights of any person, living or dead.
  ● City of Brentwood and AGD reserve the right to photograph and use banner images in advertising
     and marketing tools.
  ● In addition, the City of Brentwood and AGD reserve the right to pre-screen, accept, or reject
     artwork that does not meet city public art guidelines, or is technically unsatisfactory or
     inappropriate for public viewing. See the “Artwork Criteria” section for more information.

SALES OF BANNERS
   ● An online auction will be held from June through September to offer the banners for sale to the
     public. All banners will be displayed for silent auction. Proceeds of each banner sale will be split
     between the artist, Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble, and Art Guild of the Delta.
   ● Bidding on banners may be done online at www.32auctions.com/BannerUp2021 starting June
     20th.
   ● All bids will be final at the close of the auction at 8:00 pm on September 18th at 8 pm PST.
   ● Payments to the artists will be made NLT October 31st, 2021.
   ● If a banner is unsold, the artist may purchase his/her banner for $50, otherwise AGD will
     maintain ownership of it.
   ● Auction Guides and promotional materials will be provided for bidders and the general public.
   ● Banners will also be on view online at www.ArtGuildoftheDelta.com .

ARTWORK CRITERIA
  ● Banners will be painted with an original design on the blank side only. Banners hang vertically
    with a portrait orientation (not landscape).
  ● Use only good quality acrylic paints (recommended paints include artist grade Golden or
    Liquitex acrylic paint). Banners will be rolled up during handling. Oils and spray paint may
    flake, stick or crack.
  ● Do not use paint pens as the paint from these will fade.
  ● Avoid use of mediums as this may leave the paint sticky.
  ● No glued or applied items.
  ● Do not cut the banner in any way.
  ● Sealer & Primer. CAUTION. Not recommended.
  ● SIGN YOUR BANNER!
  ● Banners are displayed on public streets and should be appropriate for all ages.
        ○ Artworks should be in good taste, suitable for public viewing, and should be appropriate
             in scale, material, form and content for the immediate, general, social and physical
             environments with which they are to relate.
        ○ Art work that contains nudity or symbols which could be offensive, or other potentially
             offensive material, cannot be accepted.
  ● If you take a banner and are unable to paint it please let us know ASAP so another artist can have
    an opportunity to participate. DO NOT pass your banner along to someone else. Return it to
    AGD/Delta Gallery.

Pick up your banner at Delta Gallery, Streets of Brentwood, on March 13th or 14 th between 1 and 5
pm.

There is no charge for the banner or entry fee. Banners are limited. First 72 artists will get to participate
(Note: Only 70 banners can be hung in downtown Brentwood. The other two will be hung at Delta
Gallery.

Turn in banners on May 15th or May 16th at Delta Gallery from 1 - 5 pm.

Banners may be turned in early. May 16th is a firm NLT date. Banners will be photographed for the
Auction Guide and cannot be accepted after the 16th. Artists will be charged $50 for unreturned or
unusable banners.
