To celebrate the occasion a touring exhibition, showcasing interviews with key figures and winning schemes over the past three decades, is touring County Durham. Pills, Skills & Thrills 150 Years of The Witham In its time The Witham has served as a People’s Dispensary, Mechanics' Institute, Victorian Music Hall, and all-purpose arts and entertainment venue. This exhibition tells the story of The Witham's foundation in the 1840’s to the modern community centre of today. Aquarius String Quartet Aquarius returns to The Witham after a very well-received concert in April. They will perform classical favourites for string quartet including Haydn Opus 64 no 5, known as The Lark and Dvorak Opus 96 The American. Part of The Witham Sunday Classics programme. The Victorian History of the Candle The magic of Michael Faraday's 1860 Christmas Lecture series about the candle is recreated. There are many demonstrations and a chance for you to explore how candles work with Roy Tranter. This is a fundraising event for The Witham. Bootleg Blondie has played the world famous CBGB club in New York City, the Isle of Wight Festival, London’s 100 Club and the legendary Hammersmith Palais. Lead singer Debbie Harris says her pride and joy is her guitar that she plays during her shows, signed by all the Blondie band members.
