We have the honour of inviting you to the Karate Auckland’s Championships Tournament for 2019. This competition is for all levels of Karate Competitors (Development Intermediate and Premier). Our hope is that this format will provide participants a good experience in tournament karate but we also want you have an enjoyable time. Whether this is because that you are successful in this tournament or it is because of your results or improvement or just meeting like-minded karateka and making new friends. WHEN: SUNDAY 19th May 2019 WHERE: Auckland Netball Centre 7 Allison Ferguson Drive, Stonefields, Auckland Competition commences at 8.30 am (doors open @ 8am) There is an onsite cafe will be operating all day & plenty of onsite car parking available. TOURNAMENT FEES INDIVIDUAL Entry $ 65.00 Team Kata or Kumite Entry $ 45.00 KNZ Registered Player discount ($10.00) Please deduct this manually from your entry fee as Sportdata does not do this. If you are helping with judging, refereeing, marshalling or table duties you must register on sport data to obtain the player discount. We would kindly ask that each participating club supply at least two officials either judge/referee/table/marshal. We rely on your help to make the tournament run smoothly. TOURNAMENT PROGRAMME AND RULES COMPETITION RULES TOURNAMENT PROGRAMME: Please note that this PROVISIONAL - Please consult the draw and timetable on WKF 2019 rules with following modifications: the sportdata website for final times closer to the KATA tournament time The judging of all Kata competition will follow the old WKF 8.00 am – Warm up time flag system for the afternoon competition. The new WKF kata judging system may be used in the morning 8.30 am – 12/13 Years Plus Kata Events Kumite Events competition. 12.30 pm Lunch Break (estimate) KATA REQUIREMENTS Beginner Kata - are limited to performing only Kihon Kata: 1.00 pm Under 12 Years Kata Events Kumite Events Heian 1-5, Pinan 1-5, Gekisai 1-2 and Saifa. Competitors 5.30 pm Estimated Finish Time can repeat a kata in each round. Intermediate Kata - any approved WKF kata including A more accurate schedule will be published on the sportdata Development Kata. Repeats are allowed but only in a site when competitor numbers are known. A,B,C,A,B,C. format. Ie you must know 3 different kata. The 12/13 Plus Years are held in the morning so these competitors are then available to help organise the younger Premier Kata - any approved WKF kata including competitors and officiate. Development Kata. No Repeats as per WKF rules. For ages 5 – 9 years old, Intermediate and Premier Kata competitors are limited to Development Kata except in medal rounds when a Premier Kata may be performed. No repeats are allowed. Competitors must announce the name of the kata they will be performing before they start performing the kata. They must also bow inside the competition area before starting and bow after completing the kata. The competitor will be disqualified for failing to do so.
KUMITE EVENT MANAGEMENT For ages 13 and under, techniques to the head can score but absolutely NO contact to head will be allowed. Addendum: The rules for team kata depends on the age group. It will follow the same as the individual kata. ie the 14yrs + will have no repeats and require bunkai for medal rounds. 10-13 can repeat kata but will require bunkai for medal rounds The 5-9 will not require Bunkai and can repeat. In the Team Kumite we will try and match the age groups against each other so it would be ideal if every team had one of each age in the group.
