Editor Speak Dear Colleagues, We are happy to share yet another colorful issue of GVK WORLD for your reading pleasure. As you are all aware, sustainability is becoming the mantra today in all walks of life. And as a socially responsible corporate, we have always been at the forefront for implementing and propagating sustainability practices at GVK CSIA whereby we have leveraged the latest energy-efficient technologies and ensured their optimization. In this issue, we are highlighting the many sustainability practices implemented that include initiatives such as Green Building Certification, Carbon management, Airport Carbon Accreditation, Carbon Accounting and Management System, GREENCO Gold Certification, Solar power and monitoring and managing of noise to reduce impact etc. The Global Business Report has featured an interview with Mr G V Sanjay Reddy, Vice Chairman, GVK which we are reproducing in this issue for your ready perusal. Our Jaya He GVK New Museum team at GVK CSIA celebrated World Tourism Day by launching an amazing experience of Indian Art and culture for all interested travelers. Do read more about it in the following pages. GVK ONE Mall was bestowed with a Shopping Centre of the Year Award by two different entities, thereby strengthening its reputation as Hyderabad’s most preferred retail destination for the discerning customers. GVK EMRI was also amongst the awards, winning the Best Ambulance Service of the Year award, along with two more accolades that its Meghalaya Unit received from the State Administration for its efforts towards selflessly serving the people in the state. We are also showcasing in this issue the different work related as well as festive events and activities that were conducted across the GVK family. Also featured are the contributions received from all over the country for the special contests on occasions like Photography Day, Independence Day and Friendship Day. Recognitions Events GVK EMRI - Meghalaya honoured Smart Charitable Award GVK EMRI-Meghalaya received the SMART Charitable Trust Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the society by providing emergency medical services to the citizens. The award included a memento and a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Mr Deepankar Choudhury, State Head, GVK EMRI - Meghalaya thanked everyone and pledged to continue working towards strengthening the emergency healthcare scenario of the state. GVK EMRI has been operating the EMS in Meghalaya since February 2009 and currently has a fleet of 48 ambulances spread across 43 locations in the state. District Appreciation Award On the occasion of our 71st Independence Day celebrations, team GVK EMRI - Meghalaya was recognized with the District Appreciation Award for its exemplary service to the community. Mr Deepankar Choudhury, State Head, received the award from Hon’ble CM of Meghalaya, Dr Mukul Sangma. Till date, GVK EMRI - Meghalaya has attended more than 22 lakh calls handling over 1.6 lakh emergencies and has saved around 19000 lives. Shrinagar HEP generates over 3475 million units of electricity The GVK Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Ltd generated and transmitted over 3475 million units of electricity since it commenced operations in April 2015. Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Plant is a 540 MW (2X270 MW) thermal power project located near Goindwal Sahib Village, District Tarn Taran in the state of Punjab. The river Beas is located 900 m from the eastern boundary wall of the project site and this project was won through International Competitive Bidding in the year 1996. GVK MIAL organizes Health Checkup Camp GVK organized a two-day free health checkup camp on the occasion of World Heart Day in association with Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital at the cargo terminal to aware about the cardio vascular diseases. Employee Focus Mrs Manika Sinha - GVK EMRI Assam Winner, Mrs India Global International South Mrs Manika Sinha, employee in the ERO department of GVK EMRI Assam won the prestigious title of Mrs India Global International South, at the Mrs India Global International Beauty contest held at Hotel Lily, Guwahati on 18 August, 2017. She was selected as winner out of 22 contestants from various parts of India and also won a direct entry to Mrs International Global to be held in Malaysia this year. She also won the Mrs Catwalk title in the same contest. The beauty contest was organized by renowned fashioner designer and choreographer Prasant Ghosh. Mrs Manika Sinha had also won the title Mrs Popular Diva Assam’ 2017 at Mrs Diva Assam 2017 in July. Now her aim is to win the Mrs International title which is scheduled to be held in Malaysia this year.
