the top. The smocks are handmade in Harrogate and will be given to your child when they
start in Little Acorns and Acorns. The smocks are available in sizes Small, Medium and
Large. The cost of a smock will be added to your School bill as an extra.

• Make-up, nail varnish and jewellery (except watches) should not be worn.
• Long hair should be tied back and of a natural colour; boys' hair should be off the
collar.
• Shirts should be tucked in.
• Skirts should be no more than two inches above the knee.
• Girls may wear one pair of stud earrings per ear.
• Boys are not permitted to wear earrings unless permission has been granted by the
Head of Year.
• Pupils in Year 7 to Year 11 should wear Ashville branded v neck school pullovers,
not crew neck sweaters or hoodies.
• Hoodies or coats should not be worn around the College or in lessons without the
permission of a member of staff.
• Boys in Year 7 to Year 11 and the Sixth Form are not permitted to wear black jeans.
• Boys in Year 7 to Year 11 should wear mid-grey trousers.
• Shoes should be black leather or imitation leather.
• Shoes should have a heel height not exceeding 3cm. Stilettos are not permitted.SIXTH FORM GIRLS – DRESS CODE
SKIRT SUIT OR TAILORED TROUSER SUIT
• skirt/trousers and jacket must be smart not necessarily matching
• skirts should be no more than three inches above the knee
• trousers must be full length
• can be grey, navy or black
• can have a fine pinstripe (but not in a bold colour)
• may have a fine check (but not in a bold colour)
SHIRTS/BLOUSES
• should be formal, not ‘fashion’ shirts
• should either have a formal collar which can be left unbuttoned or should be in the
traditional style of a summer school-blouse
• white or plain coloured
• check on a white background in a single colour
• striped with a single-coloured stripe
• bold colours can only be worn in a plain shirt, not striped or checked shirts
• no shirt/blouse should hang below the pullover or jacket
• all pupils must have a plain white shirt or blouse which is worn on formal
occasions.
TIE – Girls in the College are not required to wear a tie. Sixth Form Ties or Red Ties may be
worn on formal occasions. Other school ties may be worn on occasions such as ‘prefect on
duty’.
PULLOVER/CARDIGANS
• plain-knit, v neck pullover or cardigan in a plain colour only
• minimal branding
• pullover may be long sleeved or sleeveless
• all pullovers/cardigans must be of “normal” length and not long-line or cropped. They
should not hang below the length of the jacket
• hoodies should not be worn
SHOES
• should be plain black (leather) shoes. No boots
• should be full shoes (enclosed heel and toe), not strapless
• the maximum height of heel for female pupils is 6cm, but they should remember that
safety and comfort play a part in the selection of appropriate shoes (no platforms)
• stiletto heels are not permitted (not smaller than a thumbnail)
TIGHTS should be plain black or natural coloured (not patterned).
JEWELLERY may be worn in moderation. A maximum of two earrings per lobe. No other
piercing worn in school.
MAKE-UP may be worn but this should not draw attention to the individual.HAIR must be tidy and of a natural colour. NAIL VARNISH may be worn but should be of a single colour. SCHOOL TIE – must be worn. They may be:
• Sixth Form Tie (bought on Schoolblazer.com)
• Colours Tie
• Red Tie (if appointed to this position)
• Liaison Prefect Tie (if appointed to this position)
• Boarding Ties

All pupils must have a Sixth Form Tie (or Red Tie, if appropriate) which is worn on
formal occasions with a white shirt.
