Volunteer Opportunities and Memorial Options The Parks and Recreation Division has many volunteer opportunities and donation/memorial options available. More information can be found online at www.manitowoc.org or by calling 686-3580 ADOPT-A-PARK The Adoptable Areas Program was created to give citizens an opportunity to volunteer in the City’s parks and other designated green spaces. It creates a powerful partnership between the citizens of Manitowoc and the Parks and Rec. Division. Individuals or groups are encouraged to adopt an area for a period of one year and are expected to complete a minimum of two cleanups and to do monthly walkthroughs. One time volunteer projects are also available. ADOPT-A-GARDEN The Adoptable Garden Program is a program for volunteers to plant and care for a flower bed, in order to help beautify the Zoo. 1. Are you hungry for an opportunity to help your community? Lincoln Park Zoo has opportunities this summer for you, your family, or your organization to Adopt-A-Garden on the Zoo grounds. 2. Who can adopt?: Anyone, local community organizations, clubs, businesses, and even individuals (individuals must be 18 or older) 3. How does it work?: Volunteers will be responsible for planting the garden, weeding, watering and maintaining it throughout the growing season – including spring and fall clean up. Volunteer agreements can be renewed annually. Cost of plants will be at the volunteers expense or plants can be brought in from volunteers’ own gardens. Adopt-A-Garden Volunteers will receive a discount for purchasing plants from Hartman’s Towne & Country Greenhouse or at Green Acres Lawn & Garden Center. The cost of the plants may be tax deductible.
