ALPHA TOASTMASTERS NEWSLETTER MARCH EDITION 2021 ALPHA NEWS Presidents Report Alpha has been back in action in 2021 since 11 January and there has been vibrancy from the vitality of our members at every meeting because of the keen sense of anticipation and ambition that is palpable in the room. It is an environment of learning and leadership development. As well as a few social members who come for the best night out in Newcastle on a Monday night ☺ Alpha’s Club Contests have been held in February. The participation was excellent and I loved seeing member’s step up to better their best. Classic case of “feel the fear and do it anyway”! Our Alpha Toastmasters YouTube channel has been launched thanks to the dedication of Tom Wilde and the Club members whose participation in the Contests helped make it happen. They look really great – can’t wait to see them in 12 months time. Just like all of us in our different roles at the Club, I have no doubt they will become even more polished and professional. We are very fortunate for our experienced members, our newer members and all in between. This balance is so beneficial as there is always someone attending at the skill level you are at. When striving to gain mastery and magnificence in an area that will enhance all aspects of your life, it is so exquisite to have encouraging and enthusiastic company on the journey. We are only a few steps away from achieving a President’s Distinguished Club distinction for this year. I was surprised to see that all Clubs in our District do not even consider aiming for it, as it is ‘too hard’. But, unless you set an intention, you can end up just drifting. I do not doubt you had an intention when you joined Alpha. Never stop setting these goals to elevate your Club performances as it can make all the difference from being mediocre to absolutely magic! !1

Time in Toastmasters - Joined in November 2020. Alpha Toastmasters provides extremely supportive and friendly leaning environment. It is a great place to improve your communication skills, learn how to run meetings, motivate yourself or simply learn how to be more confident in yourself. I have gained so much in short time just by paying attention to the roles performed by the members and feedback given by the evaluators. I have also made new friends. It has helped me enormously during this Covid-19 where my social life was almost Zero and I was very depressed. I am looking forward to the day when I will be in the position to give something back to Alpha Toastmasters for all their help. Having a mentor that you look up to and can talk to anytime is a bonus. !2
