A wonderful, application only, opportunity exists for students entering Year 7 in 2020 to
participate in Coolum State High School's ALPHA Academy.

The ALPHA class is designed to challenge, nurture and develop students with strong
creativity, artistic, language, problem solving, design and coding interests. Students
participating in the ALPHA Academy complete in-depth studies in all subjects for the full
academic year, with the notion of maintaining this focus through Junior Secondary into
Senior Secondary pathways commencing in Year 10. Entrance into these classes will be
based on demonstrated evidence of:

         A high level of performance ability in STEM subject areas.
         Evidence of consistently high levels of behaviour and effort in all subjects.
         Evidence of consistently high levels of Literacy and Numeracy results in Year 5
          NAPLAN.
         A high aptitude in problem solving and critical thought as evidenced in the ALPHA
          entry examination

Application Process

2.       Submit the completed application form to:

3.       Closing Date: Friday 24 May 2019

4.       Successful applicants will be notified and proceed to Stage 2 of the process.

5.       Stage 2     Dates, timelines and requirements will be provided to successful
                     applicants.

6.       Stage 2     Shortlisted students will participate in an aptitude/problem solving
                     examination.

7.       Stage 3     All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their
                     application.
