    Registration begins on April 13 at gocot.net/registration, in-person at any
    of our recreation centers or by calling 720-977-5901.

 ESPORTS I AGES 5+
Thornton Parks, Recreation and Community Programs has partnered with Mission
Control to offer a variety of online sports leagues and tournaments to players of
all ages and skill levels. Esports is one of the fastest-growing programs in the
world. Esports leagues are a lot like other sports leagues; registration is taken,
games are scheduled, standings are posted and a champion is crowned! Games
such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, Rocket League, NBA2K, FIFA, NHL,
Madden Football, Fortnite and Call of Duty are available now and more will be
added soon.
Here is how to get started:
1. Visit missioncontrol.gg/play and download the free Mission Control app.
2. Create your profile.
3. Search for City of Thornton esports and choose your league.
4. Check your schedule, chat with your league mates and keep track of your
     standings.
After you join, you will receive a schedule with who and when you are playing.
Prizes include gift cards and swag.

 TAEKWON-DO I AGES 8+
This class is a great way to instill self-confidence. Students are taught the five
tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.
Instructors are class “B” & “C” certified through the International and United States
Taekwon-Do Federation. Fees: $60R/$72NR

YOUTH SPORTS
 GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUES I AGES 4-17
Come join the fun this summer and be a part of the Thornton Girls Softball
Leagues! Registration for girls softball will be March 1-April 18 and the fee
includes a t-shirt, a minimum of nine games and a pool party at the end of the
season. Practices start the week of April 26 and games will be May 17-July 30.
Practices are held twice a week (once a week for tee ball and coach pitch) after
5 p.m. on weekdays at various locations. Coaches will call participants after April
23 with details on practices. Volunteer coaches are needed. Please email mike.

Location: Games at Riverwalk Ballfield Complex, 9830 Riverdale Road, practices

 CARA TENNIS TEAM I AGES 8-18
Join one of the most successful tennis teams over the last five years! This
program did not run in 2020 due to the pandemic, but in 2019 we had a record
seven state champions crowned. Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays with
matches on Fridays (8 a.m.-2 p.m.) at various city locations (Parents/guardians
are responsible for transportation). T-shirt and end of season party included.
Practice location: Eastlake Park, 124th Avenue & Fillmore Street

 YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS I AGES 8-18
Classes for beginner and intermediate players will focus on the fun of playing
tennis while developing and improving the basic fundamental skills. Participants
should bring their own racquet and water to class, balls will be provided.
Students will be divided by age and skill level for each class. Location: Eastlake

 QUICK START TENNIS LESSONS I AGES 5-7
This class will utilize special balls, court dimensions, nets and drills to teach the
fundamentals of tennis to young boys and girls. Instructors will emphasize fun
while teaching the basics of this sport. Please bring a racket and water to class
(we do have a few loaner rackets.) Location: Eastlake Park, 124th Avenue &

One-on-one and semi-private (2-3 people) instruction are available through our
tennis program June-August only. Location and times are arranged with the
instructor. Private Fees: $25/60-min. session; $60/three sessions
Semi-private Fees (2-3 people): $30/60-min. session; $75/three sessions

 CARA TRACK TEAM I AGES 5-16
CARA Track is a great way to introduce your future Olympian to this great sport!
Practices are twice per week for one hour for ages 5-8, two hours for ages
9-16, with meets held on Saturdays in various cities (parents/guardians are
responsible for transportation.) Events are based on age and include high jump,
long jump, discus, shot put, hurdles, 50- to 1600-meter runs, and more.
Practice location: Rocky Top Middle School, 138th Avenue & York Street
Fees: $50R/$60NR (ages 5-8) or $95R/$114NR (ages 9-16) No practice July 5-8.

 THORNTON SPORTS ACADEMY I AGES 6-18
Eight-week programs that will emphasize fundamental drills and skills and
increase your fitness level in order to help prepare athletes for team and
individual competition. Tee shirt included!
ARCHERY I AGES 9-14
Learn to how to shoot on our new outdoor range at West Sprat-Platte Lake (100th
Avenue & McKay Street). This beginner course will focus on fundamental skills in
a safe, controlled setting. Fees: $70R/$84NR

Thornton partners with Skyhawks (ages 4-14) and SuperTots (ages 2-5) Sports
to offer several new exciting options for in-person sports camps this summer!.
By the end of each camp your child will have learned new life skills such as
teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends and improved their sport skills
preparing them to play for the playground or league play!

EXPLORING WITH YOUR GRANDKIDS I AGES 5+
This guided, approximately two-mile, nature hike is a great way for grandparents
and grandkids to spend time together learning about nature. Participants will
meet at the Active Adult Center and travel to the designated park in our large
capacity van. Please bring water, sunscreen, snack, and appropriate footwear.

YOUTH FISHING CLASS I AGES 6-12
Fishing is a sport everyone can enjoy throughout their entire life and fishing
with your children/grandchildren is a great outdoor activity you can enjoy as a
family. This introductory class will focus on the basics of fishing (knots, casting,
fish handling, identification, etc.) and mostly is about having fun! Parents are
encouraged to stay and help with younger children.

TRIP BACK IN TIME WITH YOUR GRANDKIDS I AGES 5+
Travel to Burlington, Colorado, for a unique tour of the Old Town Museum
and show your grandkids what it used to be like back in the day. Participants
will meet at the Active Adult Center and travel to the museum in Burlington
(approximately 2.5 hours) in our large capacity van. We’ll then tour the museum
and eat lunch in Burlington (not included in fee) before returning. Please bring
drinks/snacks for the road, we will stop in Limon for a short break.
Fees: $30R/$36NR (includes one adult and one child)

ADULT SPORTS
 ADULT SOFTBALL LEAGUES I AGES 16+
The Mens and Coed “D” Divisions are for teams with average skills and typically
some prior experience in leagues. Registration begins April 13 at all recreation
facilities.The team fee is $525 until May 14. Beginning May 15, if there is space
available, the team fee will be increased to $550. The deadline to register is May
21 or until leagues fill (maximum nine teams each.) There are no player’s fees.
