Basic Digital Photography I – via Zoom Dates: Tuesday, April 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25 2021 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $90/Session (6 Classes) Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale Learn about your Digital SLR (DSLR) camera and how to shoot images in the manual modes resulting in better photographs. Topics include: Understanding DSLR features and functions; Understanding Exposure; Understanding Focusing and Depth of Field; Understanding Composition and Elements of Visual Design.; and learning how to see like a photographer. There will be shooting homework between sessions. The 6 2-hour sessions will consist of lectures as well as photo critiques. Homework Option for Basic Digital Photography I – via Zoom Dates: On your Own Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $50 Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale The key components to taking great photographs are knowing how to use your camera in manual mode, understanding the principals of composition and the elements of visual design, seeing like a photographer, and practicing taking photographs. This add-on option to the class is designed to help you put into practice all of the things that you will learn in class. You will be given shooting assignments each week (4 assignments: weeks 2 – 5) specific to that week’s class material. The instructor will then review your work and provide positive and constructive feedback to help you take your work up another notch. The critiques are provided via video and can be downloaded for reviewing as many times as you like. The instructor will be available to answer questions via email. The best way to improve your photography is to learn from photos that worked well, and from photos that did not work so well. Adobe Lightroom Classic for Photographers – via Zoom Dates: Saturday, March 13 & 20 Time: 8:30am-12:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $125 Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale Learn how to use Adobe Lightroom Classis to organize, manage, edit, print, and share photographs. This class is intended for photographers of all levels. You will learn the best ways to import, store, organize and backup your images; the editing tools and techniques for making great images; how to export images; the editing tools and techniques for making great images; how to export images for sharing or for printing; and how to print directly from LR. You will benefit more from this class if you already have Lightroom Classic installed and follow along, but not required. Lightroom Classis is available in the Adobe Photography Plan which also includes Photoshop. This class consists of (2) 4-hour sessions.
Lecture Series – 5 Classes ($25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures – See Below 1) Seeing Like a Photographer – via Zoom Dates: Tuesday, March 16 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale In this lecture, you will learn how to see like a photographer so that your photographs, no matter what type of camera you are using, will be more interesting. The most important tool for taking and making great images is you, the photographer. We will talk about what makes a great photograph, light, shadows, and the elements of visual design and composition. This lecture is geared to all levels of photographers whether you are using a smartphone camera or a DSLR/mirrorless camera. 2) Sunrise/Sunset Photography Basics Dates: Tuesday, March 23 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale Everyone can take a great sunrise or sunset photograph. Learn the secrets and recipes for capturing sunrise, sunset, golden hour, and blue hour images. We will talk about how to prepare, what gear you need, camera settings, and we will walk through several actual shotting scenarios. This lecture will benefit any level photographer with any type of camera including a smartphone camera, but it is primarily geared to DSLR and mirrorless camera users who can adjust exposure setting on their camera. 3) Landscape Photography Basics Dates: Tuesday, March 30 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale Great landscape photographs do not happen by accident. In this lecture you will learn about the key elements in capturing great landscape images including how to prepare, gear, camera settings, on-location setup, light, how to take the shot, how to photograph moving water, panoramas, and a walk-thru of an actual difficult landscape shoot in China. This lecture will benefit any level photographer with any type of camera including a smartphone camera, but it is primarily geared to DSLR and mirrorless camera users who can adjust exposure setting on their camera.
4) Architecture Photography Basics Dates: Tuesday, April 13 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale In this lecture we will discuss the challenges of taking great photographs of buildings and how to overcome those challenges. Topics include camera gear and settings; how to deal with distortion; how to take photos that are not boring; the keys to successful shots; the best times to shoot; interesting subjects; and much more. This lecture will benefit any level photographer with any type of camera including a smartphone camera, but it is primarily geared to DSLR and mirrorless camera users who can adjust exposure setting on their camera. 5) Portrait Photography Basics Dates: Tuesday, April 20 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Who: Ages 18+ Fee: $25/lecture or $100 for all 5 lectures Instructor: Nicholas DePasquale In this lecture, you will learn the key elements for taking interesting portrait photographs whether it be family or friends, or a stranger on the street. We will talk about camera gear, camera and exposure settings, focusing techniques, the importance of light and shadow, and the components of a simple studio setup. Most of the presentation will be centered around images that use natural light, not requiring any type of sophisticated lighting, and will cover informal, environmental, and group portraits too. This lecture will benefit any level photographer with any type of camera including a smartphone camera, but it is primarily geared to DSLR and mirrorless camera users who can adjust exposure setting on their camera. Dog Training: Beginner Basic Demands and Socialization - Outdoors Date: Sundays, May 2-June 27 (No Class 5/30) Time: 8:00-9:00am Who: Ages 14 & up Fee: $125 (8 Wks) Instructor: Mary Farren, What a Nice Dog Location: Spalding Field Want your dog to be a Canine Good Citizen? What your dog will learn: Come when called, Sit and stay, Down and stay, Walk on a loose leash, Place on a fixed object, Greet a friendly stranger, Leave your dog with a friendly stranger while you walk away for 3 minutes. The Canine Good Citizen certification test will be given at the end of the course. It is optional but what a great way to end your class with a certificate. Come make some new friends and have fun while giving your pup some everyday skills. Dog must be dog and people friendly. VIRTUAL FITNESS: GENERAL CLASSES Try a new class from the comfort and security of your new home! Pick the amount of classes you would like to attend a week and then choose your classes! Class options to choose from include Total Body Conditioning, Full Body Muscle, Tabata, HIIT (low impact options) Barre, Pilates, Myofascial Restorative Bodywork, Yoga, Resistance Band, Core Workout, and 30 Minutes Express Classes. All classes other than the express classes are roughly (1) hour long. For a full list of class options and their descriptions, please below. Class Descriptions Full Body Muscle – This Full Body class relies on creative movements and is form focused. This class will challenge your body in an effective, safe, and creative format. Each circuit is choreographed to work specific muscles building on strength to become stronger and more powerful. Light to medium weights. Can also use just body weight. Total Body Conditioning: - This full body fun workout is designed to increase strength, mobility, stability and endurance delivering total body conditioning, core challenges, and mental training that will leave you feeling like a champion and happy. Light weights or household items can be used. Lets’ Lift – Full on strength exercises using your bodyweight, dumbbells and other fun fitness toys, you will sweat and smile and leave feeling more amazing than ever. HIIT – Low Impact Express – HIIT Cardio is excellent for burning fat, boosting endurance, and even building lean muscle. The moves we use are great for increasing coordination, metabolism, and improve cardiac function, produce faster gains in endurance levels than steady state cardio training. Some lights may be used. Short on time, but you want a quick effective workout! Slow Flow Deep Stretch Yoga- An active stretching class that targets primary muscle groups surrounding the hips, hamstrings and upper back. This class begins with warm-up movements to build heat and prepare the muscles for stretching. Most poses are done on the floor and held for 1-2 minutes. Slow flow classes can also use a combination of Vinyasa Flow and Hatha yoga. Tabata – High-intensity interval training, a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternation short periods of intense anaerobic exercises with less intense recovery periods. You push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds HIIT and Low Impact Full Body Circuit – 20 Minutes of Low Impact HIIT and then all the of the muscles- lower, upper and core will be at least lightly worked throughout this routine, but the butt and thighs are what take the brunt of the punishment. You maybe cursing your instructor, but you will love the burn and the results. Barre –– Attention to functional alignment, small precise movements and focus on one set of muscle groups at a time make it the most efficient and resulted oriented workout. Using repetitive, small movements that will bring your muscles to their edge and allow them to tone and strengthen. The class also has elements of cardio and stretching so you will fee full body fit. Some light weights, bands and balls can be used. Mat Pilates – Done on the floor using an exercise or yoga mat, which employs controlled breathing during body weight resistance movement to build core strength, and lengthening. The mat floor exercises may also be combined with weights, bands and balls. BollyX – Bollywood-inspired dance fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music for around the world. It’s hour cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating and smiling. Myofascial Restorative Bodywork Class- In this class, you will experience how myofascial restorative bodywork can help you release stress and regain vitality. The instructor will familiarize you with the structure of your body called fascia that houses your muscles (myo), and help you to utilize tools to release restrictions in that structure that can cause misalignment, compensation patterns, aches and pains, and loss of range of motion to name a few. This class will help open up space in your structure so the systems within can work as they are meant to. You will leave with the ability to breathe more easily, increase circulation, balance hormones, and relieve aches and pains. As the structure of your body opens up, this will allow you to better enjoy more vigorous classes and activities.
