New Hampshire Hunter Jumper Association 2021 Show Series Information ❖ Unjudged warm-ups are available as listed on the class schedule. ❖ Shows start promptly at 7:30 in Rings 1 & 2 and 8:00 in Ring 3. ❖ All entries received after noon on the Wednesday before the show will be charged a post entry fee of $25/entry. ❖ All entries must be made electronically. Office fees are non-refundable after the closing date. ❖ All participants must be current NHHJA members with signed membership form on file. Can be completed at show or brought to show and submitted to show office. Note: Juniors need parent’s signature. ❖ ALL CURRENT COVID19 REGULATIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED FOR EACH SHOW! See each show listing at www.nhhja.com and in the prize list. ❖ Members or payer will be charged $50/per check returned for insufficient funds in addition to original amount. ❖ Helmets must meet safety regulations and be worn at all times when mounted. ❖ Dogs must be leashed at all times, attached to a human or tied. ❖ All entries are required to pay $2 fee to NEHC ❖ Classes with less than 3 Entries will run, but prize money will not be awarded. Note points will be awarded toward year end awards. All prize money will be applied to show bill. Excess winnings will be mailed within 30 days. ❖ NHHJA management reserves the right to limit entries or cancel any class, section or division; to change, add a dotted line, cancel or combine any unfilled classes; or to reschedule classes, change rings or change specifications in jumper classes due to time constraints. ❖ NHHJA horse shows abide by the rules and regulations of the New England Horsemen’s Council. ❖ All entries for NEHC medal classes must have their membership number or a copy of their temporary membership card with them. Entries without membership numbers will not be accepted. If you know you are a member and cannot remember your number, you can fill out a Membership Affidavit. There is a $25.00 fee which will be returned to you when your membership is validated. If you join NEHC at the horse show, please make sure you get your Temporary Membership from the show office. ❖ Credit cards will be accepted Amex, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. There will be a 3% fee added to your total. ❖ Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
Dear Trainers and Exhibitors, We are excited to welcome everyone back to our NHHJA horse shows! That said, in order to be able to safely do so, we will need everyone’s help and cooperation. We are confident that we can all work together to adhere to these guidelines, so that our season will be safe and enjoyable for everyone. We have established the following protocols with consideration to state, federal and WHO guidelines and recommendations, as well as The Tack Shack and town of Fremont requirements. Please look these over carefully, and share them with anyone who might be attending. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we do our best to run a seamless horse show for our competitors, officials and staff! If you have any questions regarding these protocols, please let us know. Show COVID-19 Horse Show Protocols - Subject to Updates • Show Office Protocols • Mandatory NEHC Waiver must be signed and received before admission into show grounds. Per NEHC, there will be staff at the entrance to the show grounds to check in exhibitors, trainers, grooms, and parents/guardians. NEHC Waiver can be found on both NHHJA and NEHC websites. • Pre entries only, please. • Only email entries will be accepted. Entry form must be sent in PDF format with all appropriate signatures required, per NEHC. NO EXCEPTIONS! • Office fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, but there will not be an additional charge for classes added or scratched during the show. Adds/Scratches must be done electronically via text to Kara at 603-831-2759. • Only staff is permitted inside show office, unless checking out. One exhibitor/trainer at a time will be permitted in office to close out show bill. • Trainer Packets with all necessary forms, numbers, strings, trainer report, etc… will be available in the morning for pick up outside of the office. Packets will not be given out until payment is received. • All class count sheets will be electronic. We will post updates to Facebook periodically throughout the day. • Best Practices • Everyone on show grounds must pay adhere to all safety measures in place, including additional signage, distance markers and announcements. • Hand washing stations and hand sanitizer will be available on show grounds. • Only exhibitors and necessary support people/family members will be allowed on show grounds. No general public spectators will be permitted on the grounds. • Please practice social distancing throughout the show grounds. • Facial coverings are to be worn by all participants, spectators, chaperones, coaches, staff, and other officials, at all times except when mounted. • • Show Rings • Separate in-gates and out-gates may be used, or traffic in and out of rings will be managed so as to prevent congestion. • One horse/rider and trainer at the in-gate at a time. No additional helpers or spectators.
• Additional holding areas are in place to avoid crowding near in-gates. Horses/riders are to remain in holding area until called up to in-gate. • Back to back jumping rounds are encouraged. • Ribbons/Awards • Ribbons will not be presented in the rings. All ribbons and awards will be available upon completion of each division, and will be distributed at designated awards table(s). • Travel Restrictions/Health Requirements • All participants, staff, spectators and other officials must comply with current applicable travel requirements of their home state and New Hampshire. • If any individual (participant, staff member, spectator or official) develops symptoms of COVID-19, they should promptly inform organizers and must be removed from the activity and follow all NH State reporting (if applicable), quarantine, and isolation requirements. • If any individual (participant, staff member, spectator or official) tests positive for COVID-19 they are required to disclose to the Organizer (NHHJA) for purposes of cleaning, disinfecting, and contact tracing.

2021 NHHJA HORSE SHOW CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Class Descriptions/Specifications Equitation Classes No rider may enter classes for more than one age group. The exhibitors’ age for competition will follow NEHC rules, age as of December 1. Points can be accumulated only in the age group indicated on the application for membership. Martingales are prohibited on the flat. The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF, www.usef.org) requires ALL persons mounted on a horse to wear properly fitted ASTM approved helmet with harness secured. NHHJA follows suit. →Trophy and 6 ribbons to be awarded in each class *Lead Line Equitation/Lead Line Suitability – Open to riders 8 years of age and under. Not to show in any other class/division at the same show. Leader and side-walkers must be over the age of 14 and appropriately dressed. Riders may not have competed off the lead. Hunt Seat Walk-Trot Equitation – Open to riders 10 years of age and under. No child entered may compete in any other class requiring entries to canter or lope at the current show. Riders may not have ever been judged in a class requiring a canter at a previous show. NEHC “A” Hunt Seat Walk-Trot Equitation Championship – same specifications as Hunt Seat Walk-Trot Equitation class above. Must have entered, shown, and judged in the Hunt Seat Walk-Trot class in order to show in the Hunt Seat Walk-Trot Equitation Championship class. NEHC “A” Short Stirrup Equitation – Open to riders 12 years of age and under. Riders cannot have shown higher than 18” at any recognized show. NEHC “A” Short Stirrup Equitation Flat – to be judged at the walk, trot and canter in both ways of the ring. May be asked to halt and back. No more than 8 to canter at one time. Short Stirrup Equitation O/F – to be shown over a minimum of 4 fences and a maximum of 8 fences, with fences not to exceed 18” in height. Fences may be taken at a trot or canter. *Long Stirrup Equitation – Open to riders 13 years of age and older. Riders cannot have shown higher than 2’ at any recognized show. Long Stirrup Equitation Flat – to be judged at the walk, trot and canter in both ways of the ring. May be asked to halt and back. No more than 8 to canter at one time. Qualifying Medal Classes - must be a member to accrue points for finals - *NH Adult Medal – fences not to exceed 2’9”. Amateur riders 18 years of age and older must accumulate 12 points in order to qualify. Riders will be required to perform over a minimum of 8 fences with at least one change of direction. At least three (3) riders must complete the course. Testing is optional and is at the discretion of the judge. USEF Tests 1-18. NH Adult Medal and NH Junior Medal may be combined if there are not enough entries to fill them separately. To be shown at respective height. Note: When rider wins Adult medal class at year-end finals, he/she must skip one (1) year of competing in the class at the finals, but may return to compete in the class the following year. *NH Junior Medal – fences not to exceed 3’. Note: When rider wins Novice medal class at year-end finals 2 years consecutively, he/she is no longer eligible to compete in the class again at finals. ALL YEAR-END FINAL MEDAL CLASS WINNERS ARE STILL ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE IN MEDAL FINAL QUALIFYING CLASSES AT NHHJA AFFILIATED SHOWS, BUT MUST FOLLOW SPECIFICATIONS ABOVE FOR FINALS ELIGIBILITY.
DOWNEAST Qualifying Classes DOWNEAST WALK-TROT POLES MEDAL - Open to riders 14 years and under. Must not have shown over fences higher than 18″. Contestants shall be required to show at a trot over a minimum of four rails (poles) on the ground. Testing optional. Verbal testing recommended. DOWNEAST SHORT & LONG STIRRUP MEDAL - Open to riders 17 years and under competing on horses or ponies. Riders must not compete during the year in equitation classes over fences that exceed 18”. Contestants shall be required to perform a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence height will be 18”. Testing optional, verbal recommended. USEF tests 1-8. DOWNEAST MINI MEDAL - Open to riders 17 years of age and younger. Contestants shall be required to perform over a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence heights shall be 2’ for small & medium ponies, 2’6″ for large ponies and horses. Testing optional. USEF tests 1-8. DOWNEAST MODIFIED JUNIOR MEDAL- Open to riders 17 years of age and younger, competing on ponies or horses. Contestants shall be required to perform over a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence heights shall be 2’3”. Testing optional. USEF tests 1-8. DOWNEAST JUNIOR MEDAL - Open to riders 17 years of age and under competing on horses. Contestants shall be required to perform over a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence heights shall be 2’9”. Testing optional. USEF tests 1-19. DOWNEAST MODIFIED ADULT MEDAL - Open to amateur riders 18 years of age or older, competing on horses or ponies. Contestants shall be required to perform over a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence heights shall be 2’3”. Testing optional. USEF tests 1-8. DOWNEAST AMATEUR ADULT MEDAL - Open to amateur riders 18 years of age or older, competing on horses or ponies. Contestants shall be required to perform over a minimum of six fences with at least one change of direction. Fence heights shall be 2’6”. Testing optional. USEF tests 1-19. NECH Qualifying Classes NEHC ADULT MEDAL - Open to adult amateur members of the New England Horseman’s Council. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight fences set at a height from 2'9" to 3' with a combination and two changes of direction after the first obstacle. One or more individual tests of the top four contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion. (USEF current tests 1-19). To fill a class, at least four competitors must complete the course. NEHC JUNIOR MEDAL - Open to Junior members of the New England Horsemen’s Council who have not reached their 18th birthday. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight fences set to a height from 3' to 3'3" with a combination and two changes of direction after the first obstacle. One or more individual tests of the top four contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion. (USEF current tests 1-19). To fill a class, at least four competitors must complete the course.
Pleasure Divisions Walk-Trot Pleasure – Open to riders 10 years of age and under. No child entered may compete in any other class requiring entries to canter or lope at the current show. May not have cantered or loped in any class at a previous show. NEHC “C” Walk-Trot Pleasure Championship – same specifications as Walk-Trot Pleasure class above. Must have entered, shown, and judged in the Walk-Trot Pleasure class in order to show in the Walk-Trot Pleasure Championship class. NEHC “C” *Pony Hunter Pleasure Division – open to all ponies of a hunter type ordinarily used for pleasure purposes. Adults are permitted to show ponies with suitability to count; light contact with the pony’s mouth is required. To be judged on performance, manners, quality, presence, suitability, substance and soundness. Open to ponies only. Pony Hunter Pleasure Under Saddle – to be judged at the walk, trot and canter both directions of the ring. May be asked to hand gallop, halt and back. Pony Hunter Pleasure Championship – specifications to be the same as qualifying class. To be eligible, ponies must have been entered, shown and judged in the Pony Hunter Pleasure U/S. Prize Money: $20, $15, $10, $5 NEHC “C” Hunter Pleasure Horse Division – open to all horses of a hunter type ordinarily used for pleasure purposes with no limitations to status of rider. Light contact with horse’s mouth is required. To be judged on performance, manners, quality, presence, suitability, substance and soundness. Open to horses only. NEHC “C” Hunter Pleasure Horse Under Saddle – to be judged at the walk, trot and canter both directions of the ring. May be asked to hand gallop, halt and back. Hunter Pleasure Horse Championship - specifications to be the same as qualifying class. To be eligible, horses must have been entered, shown and judged in the Hunter Pleasure U/S. Prize Money: $20, $15, $10, $5 NEHC Pleasure – open to NEHC members and non-members. Open to all horses ordinarily used for pleasure purposes with no limitations as to the status of rider or place of residence. To be shown at a walk, trot and canter. Will be required to back. Loose rein on command of judge only, but without loss of contact. Shall be judged on manners, performance and quality in that order. *non pointed NHHJA NEHC “C”
Jumper Divisions Prize Money in all jumper classes is $50, $25, $15, $10 and ribbons. *Puddle Jumpers (2’6”) – open to any horse or pony with no restrictions. *Schooling Jumpers (3’) – open to any horse or pony with no restrictions. Open Jumpers (3’3”-3’6”) – open to any horse with no restrictions. NEHC “C” ------------------------------------------- Hunter Divisions ❖ Prize money in stake classes is $50, $25, $15, $10. Other classes will be awarded trophy and 6 ribbons. ❖ Must have shown in all hunter O/F classes to be eligible to compete in division’s stake class. ❖ Champion and Reserve Champion awarded in each division. ❖ At least two over fences classes and the under saddle class must be completed in order to award division championships. ❖ Fences must simulate obstacles found in the hunting field such as natural post and rail, brush, stone wall, white board fence or gate, chicken coop, aiken, hedge, etc... A ground line is recommended for all fences. The top element must be securely placed so that slight rubs will not cause a knockdown. Open jumper fences such as striped rails and bull’s eye panels are discouraged. An in-and-out must never be the first fence. *Blue/Red Hunter Prep – to be run all day in hunter rings at respective heights in each ring. Riders must specify that their round is a Prep Hunter round. Only one round is permitted per ring for each horse. Scores of 78- 100 earn a blue ribbon. Scores of 74-77 receive a red ribbon. This is a class and not a division that counts toward year end awards. (Non Pointed NHHJA) Adult Amateur Hunter Division – to be ridden by amateurs who are no longer eligible to compete as juniors. Horse/rider combinations are not eligible for any other NEHC rated hunter classes. Horses may be shown by a different rider in any other divisions or classes at the same show. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners and way of going, size of rider to mount and suitability as an amateur adult hunter. Horses may be jogged for soundness at the judge’s discretion. Fence heights not to exceed 3’. Spreads not to exceed height of fence. Ponies may be ridden by adults, suitability to count. May be split 18-35 years of age and 36 years of age & over if entries warrant. NEHC “B” *Open Special Hunter Division – fences not to exceed 2’6”. Open to all riders regardless of status. Modified Adult Amateur Hunter Division – fences not to exceed 2’3”. Open to all amateur adult horse/rider combinations that have not competed in the past 3 years at a recognized show in a class with fence heights greater than 2’6”. Open to horses and ponies to show over the same course. NEHC “B”
*Baby Green Hunter Division – fences not to exceed 2’6”. No in and outs. Open to any horse or pony in their first two years of showing over fences. Horses and ponies qualify for the Baby Green division for a maximum of two years only. Horses and ponies cannot cross enter in other divisions with jumps exceeding 2’6”. Simple changes of lead should not be penalized. Horses/ponies not to have shown over 2’6” at any recognized show. *Suitable Hunter Division – Horse and/or rider may never have competed in a class with fence heights greater than 2’ at a recognized show. To be shown over 4 to 8 fences not to exceed 18” with no combinations. May trot or canter fences. No more than 8 to canter at one time in under saddle class. Short Stirrup Hunter Division – open to riders 12 years of age and under. May not compete in any other hunter divisions in a jumping class where fences are higher than 18”. May never have shown over fences higher than 18” at any recognized show. To be shown over 4 to 8 fences not to exceed 18”. No more than 8 to canter at one time in under saddle class. NEHC “AA” *Modified Children’s Hunter Division – fences not to exceed 2’3”. Open to junior riders that have never competed in a class with fence heights greater than 2’6” at a recognized show. Open to horses and ponies to show over the same course. *Pre Child/Adult Hunter – Open to junior or amateur adult exhibitors who have not previously shown over fences exceeding 2’6” in height at a recognized show. Open to horses and ponies to show over the same course. Fence heights not to exceed 2’. May be split into separate Child and Adult sections if entries warrant. *Special Child/Amateur Adult Hunter Division – Fences not to exceed 2’6”. Open to junior and amateur adult horse/rider combinations who have never competed in a class with fence heights greater than 2’9”. Horses and ponies to show over the same course. Children’s Hunter Horse Division – to be shown by junior exhibitors, age as of December 1st of the current show year. Junior exhibitors 15-17 years of age must be eligible for intermediate equitation O/F (have not won 12 blue ribbons) as of Dec. 1st of the current show year. Fences not to exceed 3’0, spreads not to exceed fence height. If entries warrant, the division may be split at the discretion of the management. Same horse/rider combinations may not compete in any other NEHC rated division at the same show except equitation, jumpers, and pleasure. Horses may be shown by another rider in any other division at the same show. Jogging for soundness at the discretion of the judge. Shall be judged on performance and soundness. NEHC “B” Children’s Hunter Pony Division – same judging specifications as Children’s Hunter Horse division. Fence heights not to exceed 2’ for small & medium ponies, 2’6” for large ponies. Ponies may not cross enter into the regular pony hunter division. NEHC “B” *Performance Hunter Division – open to any horse with no restrictions. Fence heights not to exceed 3’3”. * denotes non-rated NEHC

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT For and in consideration of New England Horsemen’s Council, Inc. (“NEHC”) allowing me, the undersigned, to participate in any capacity (including as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, lessee, owner, agent, coach, official, trainer or volunteer) in a NEHC sanctioned, licensed or approved event or activity, including but not limited to equestrian clinics, practices, shows, competitions and related or incidental activities (“NEHC Event” or “NEHC Events”); I, for myself, and on behalf of my spouse, children, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors,, and assigns, hereby agree to and make the following contractual representations pursuant to this Agreement (the “Agreement”): A. RULES AND REGULATIONS: I hereby agree to be bound and abide by the rules, regulations, and policies of NEHC as published in the NEHC Rule Book and on the website at www.nehc.info, as amended from time to time. B. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK: I knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily acknowledge the inherent risks associated with the sport of equestrian and know that horseback riding and related equestrian activities are inherently dangerous, and that participation in any NEHC Event involves risks and dangers including, without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury (including broken bones, head or neck injuries), sickness and disease (including communicable diseases), trauma, pain & suffering, permanent disability, paralysis and death; loss of or damage to personal property (including my mount & equipment) arising out of the unpredictable behavior of horses; exposure to extreme conditions and circumstances; accidents involving other participants, event staff, volunteers or spectators; contact or collision with other participants and horses, natural or manmade objects; adverse weather conditions; facilities issues and premises conditions; failure of protective equipment (including helmets); inadequate safety measures; participants of varying skill levels; situations beyond the immediate control of the NEHC Event organizers and competition management; and other undefined, not readily foreseeable and presently unknown risks and dangers (“Risks”). EQUINE ACTIVITY LIABILITY ACT WARNING: CAUTION: HORSEBACK RIDING AND EQUINE ACTIVITIES CAN BE DANGEROUS. RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Under the laws of most States, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for any injury to, or the death of, a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. C. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I understand that the aforementioned Risks may be caused in whole or in part or result directly or indirectly from the negligence of my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the NEHC Events, or the negligent acts or omissions of the Released Parties defined below, and I hereby voluntarily and knowingly assume all such Risks and responsibility for any damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses that I incur as a result of my participation in any NEHC Events. I also agree to be responsible for any injury or damage caused by me, my horse, my employees or contractors under my direction and control at any NEHC Event. D. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNITY: In conjunction with my participation in any NEHC Event, I hereby release, waive and covenant not to sue, and further agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the following parties: NEHC, NEHC Recognized Affiliate Associations, NEHC clubs, members, Event participants (including athletes/riders, coaches, trainers, judges/officials, and other personnel), the Event owner, licensee, and competition managers; the promoters, sponsors, or advertisers of any NEHC Event; any charity or other beneficiary which may benefit from the NEHC Event; the owners, managers, or lessors of any facilities or premises where a NECH Event may be held; and all directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and volunteers of any of the aforementioned parties (Individually and Collectively, the “Released Parties” or “Event Organizers”), with respect to any liability, claim(s), demand(s), cause(s) of action, damage(s), loss, or expense (including court costs and reasonable attorney fees) of any kind or nature (“Liability”) which may arise out of, result from, or relate in any way to my participation in the NEHC Events, including claims for Liability caused in whole or in part by the negligent acts or omissions of the Released Parties. E. COMPLETE AGREEMENT AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSE: This Agreement represents the complete understanding between the parties regarding these issues and no oral representations, statements or inducements have been made apart from this Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS DOCUMENT IN ITS ENTIRETY, UNDERSTAND ALL OF ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS, AND KNOW IT CONTAINS AN ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE AND WAIVER FROM LIABILITY, AS WELL AS A HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFICATION OBLIGATIONS.
