American Heart Association – BLS Provider Provider Cards Electronic Cards New Cards. Issue date beginning October 21, 2021. 3
Previous cards. Not valid after January 31, 2023. Last date to issue is January 31, 2021. Layout • General: All information on the eCard is digitally populated from the information entered by the Training Center Coordinator (TCC) or Instructor. • Branding: eCards feature the official AHA logo. • Copyright: All cards have a copyright notice. • Dates: The issue date appears as the 2-digit month and day and 4-digit year. The recommended renewal date appears as the 2-digit month and 4-digit year, 2 years from the issue date. • eCard code: The eCard code is printed on the card. The format of the code is the last 2 digits of the year the eCard was issued, followed by a 3-digit course code and a 7-digit random number. This code may be used by students or employers to access and verify eCards at www.heart.org/cpr/mycards. 4
• QR code: eCards feature a QR code, which can be scanned with a mobile device to view the eCard. • Verification: eCards include the website address where students and employers can view or verify eCards. Printed Cards Instructor Cards New Cards. Issue date beginning November 18, 2020. 5
Previous Cards. Not valid after January 31, 2023. Last date to issue is January 31, 2021. Front of Card • The course name is preprinted on the card. • Indicate the student’s name (eg, first name, middle initial, and last name). • Heartsaver course completion cards also feature an area on the front of the card listing optional modules for the course. AHA Instructors are to strike through the optional modules not completed. • Indicate the issue date as a 2-digit month and day, and 4-digit year (4/15/2017). For cards issued by International Training Centers using CPRverify, the date will follow the standard international format of 2-digit day, abbreviated month, and 4-digit year (15 Apr 2017). • Indicate the recommended renewal/expiration date, 2 years from the issue date (2-digit month and 4-digit year; 04/2019). For cards issued by International Training Centers using CPRverify, the date will show the month, spelled out, and the 4-digit year (April 2019). The card is valid through the end of the month. Back of Card All of the following items are required unless otherwise noted: • Indicate the TC’s address and contact information. • Indicate the name of the TC. • Indicate the location of the course. Provide a general description of where the course was conducted. • Indicate the TC’s AHA identification number. • Indicate the Instructor ID number. • All information on the back of the card must be stamped, typed, or computer printed. It cannot be handwritten. • On provider cards, indicate the Director’s/Instructor’s AHA Instructor Network identification number. • On instructor cards, indicate the receiving instructor’s AHA Instructor Network identification number. The instructor identification number should be for the person whose name is on the front of the card. • The person who has completed the course must sign his or her name in black or blue ink. A missing signature does not invalidate the card. Security Features • Card layout: Each sheet of cards is formatted for printing both sides at the same time. • Color designation: Each discipline is designated by a color stripe at the top edge of both sides. Heartsaver and BLS are blue, ACLS and ACLS EP are red, and PALS and PEARS are purple. • Copyright: All cards have a copyright notice. • BLS Instructor card is “BLSINSTRUCTORBLSINSTRUCTOR” (Figure 1). 6
Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Cards This will be seen on the two (2) year BLS Provider card Individuals who possess a valid RQI BLS Provider, RQI ACLS Provider, or RQI PALS Provider eCard have demonstrated, and continue to demonstrate, the equivalent requirements for completion of AHA healthcare provider courses. eCard Layout • General: RQI eCards are issued as part of RQI BLS, RQI ACLS, and RQI PALS programs. • Dates: The date the card was last updated appears as the 2-digit month, 2-digit day, and 2-digit year. The date the card expires appears as the 2-digit month and 2-digit year, 2 years from the last updated date. eCards are valid through the end of the month. • eCard Code and QR Code: RQI eCards feature an eCard Code and a QR Code that link back to the individual student. • Verification: RQI eCards can be verified by scanning the QR Code or entering the eCard Code from the student’s eCard at http://cpr.heart.org/RQIverify. 7
American Red Cross – Basic Life Support The Red Cross offers digital certifications for participants who have successfully completed our courses; most of the certifications you will come across will be digital, 8.5” x 11” certificates (PDF or printed documents). Students also have the ability to request wallet cards. Red Cross certificates are also verifiable by scanning the QR code on the certificate, or by entering the unique certificate ID number at redcross.org/confirm. Provider Certification • Basic Life Support (this is the 2019 version of the certificate; when we updated our Basic Life Support program, we dropped “for Healthcare Providers” from the certification name) • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (note, this is the 2016 version of the course/certificate which was just updated in January 2019; you should expect to see this certification name through 8/31/21) 8
• Emergency Medical Response: ARC has dropped “for Healthcare Providers” from the certification name. Instructor Certification The Instructor Certificate will look the same but will say “completed the requirements for Basic Life Support Instructor”. The QR code will validate authenticity. 9

EMS Safety Services – BLS for Healthcare Providers Provider Cards A digital BLS certificate will start with a D, followed with roughly 7-8 numbers. As more digital certificates are issued, the amount of numbers in the control number will change. EMS Safety’s physical card will include a control number with roughly 7-8 numbers. This number will also change as card more cards are used. Instructor Cards 12
EMS Safety’s instructor certification for BLS Instructors should include an “X” in the “yes” column, next to BLS (as shown below). 13
Geisinger Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Geisinger CPR does not have an instructor card. Instructors are very restricted and tightly educated and monitored. Geisinger keeps a list of instructor credentialing. 14
National Safety Council All instructors are reminded of the following with regard to issuing course completion cards: • Two separate completion cards must be issued whenever a combined First Aid and CPR course is taught. Instructors may not issue a single card for both first aid and CPR. • All completion cards must be printed or typed. Hand-written completion cards are not acceptable. • Expiration dates for all cards may not exceed 2 years from completion date. • Cards must be filled out completely and include the correct course name. The course completion card template you received with your instructor kit includes a field in the upper-right hand portion of the card. The correct course title must be printed on every card: • Only official NSC course titles may be printed on completion cards. The only course title that may are accepted on NSC completion cards is: • BLS for Health Care Providers Cards are valid for up to two years. 15
Here is a copy of the authorization email the instructors receive after taking the First Aid Online Renewal Course. It takes up to 24 hours for them to receive the email letter. ProTrainings LLC – Healthcare Provider (BLS) Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED All of our certification samples for digital and hard copies are the same. Here is a link to those sample certifications to distinguish between 100% online, Blended (online + hands-on, or a full classroom course. Note the top right corner will state "blended" or "classroom" to help identify the different certifications. All of our certifications that fall under a BLS level of training should be accepted, that would be these courses: • Healthcare Provider Level BLS/CPR, AED, and First Aid for all ages (ProFirstAid Advanced) • Healthcare Provider Level BLS/CPR and AED for all ages (ProCPR) • Healthcare Level BLS/CPR instructor Provider Cards Classroom Card Classroom certifications will display the following information: • Course curriculum • Student’s name • Date issued • Renewal date • Continuing Education equivalent • Certificate number • QR code, to access online record of card • Instructor’s name and contact information 17
Blended Cards With our Blended learning program, participants can complete their training and written test online at www.protrainings.com. After successfully completing the training and passing the written test, the participant must complete a hands-on practice and skill evaluation with a currently certified Instructor from ProTrainings. After an Instructor marks the certification complete, a digital signature is printed on the back of the card on the “skill evaluator” line. Completed certificates are available online and a printed copy is mailed to the student. Blended certification cards have the word “BLENDED” on the front of the card in the red header section. On a blended card, the instructor will always be listed as Roy Shaw. The skill evaluator's name will be added as a second line.
