A.R. Rahman’s music to Mukesh
Chhabra’s film ‘Dil Bechara’
Composed by the Oscar-winning legend, A. R. Rahman, the entire
music album of Mukesh Chhabra’s upcoming film, Dil Bechara,
released today as a celebration of the legacy of the late
actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who will be seen starring in the
film along with debutante, Sanjana Sanghi.

The soundtrack to Dil Bechara comprises a diverse mix of songs
with the film’s eponymous title track, sung by Rahman himself.
It is a vibrant celebration of life’s ups and downs, diving
into the soul of a generation that wears its heart on its
sleeve. Maskhari, a lighthearted song about friendship,
features Sunidhi Chauhan and Hriday Gattani on the vocals,
while Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan’s Taare Gin plucks at
the strings of new love. On Khulke Jeena Ka, an adaptation of
Rahman’s unreleased Tamil track Kannil Oru Thali, Arijit Singh
and Shashaa Tirupathi sing about the adventures of youth. Main
Tumhara, sung by Jonita Gandhi and Hriday Gattani, is a
pivotal song on the film’s soundtrack; a revelatory track tied
to the film’s mystery. Originally incomplete in the story,
Kizzie (Sanjana Sanghi) and Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput)—the
protagonists of Dil Bechara—are on a quest to complete this
very song.

Says A.R. Rahman, “Composing music doesn’t have any formula,
it is a thing of the heart. When I write songs, I let them
breathe for some time and then present it to the director. It
was a great experience collaborating with Mukesh Chhabra on
this film; his enthusiasm is infectious. This whole album is
carefully curated because the film has so much heart, and now,
memories of Sushant. It was a pleasure to work with lyricist
Amitabh Bhattacharya on this soundtrack of love. The songs are
eclectic and feature an amazing lineup of India’s top singers
and musicians. I hope you will like the album.”
Director of the film, Mukesh Chhabra says, “Befitting the
story of the film, its music album is an emotional
rollercoaster of romance, friendship and the odds pitted
against two young people in love. Having A. R. Rahman aboard
for the music of my directorial debut is a dream come true.
What’s amazing about the genius of Rahman in this album is
that it beautifies the narrative and takes it forward.”

A Hindi adaptation of John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars, Dil
Bechara is a story of Kizie and Manny, two ordinary people who
fall in love as a tragic turn of events close in on them.
Produced by Fox Star Studios, directed by Mukesh Chhabra and
starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi, Dil Bechara
will be streaming on Disney Hotstar on the 24th of July,
2020. Released by Sony Music India and composed by A. R.
Rahman, the music album of the upcoming film is available to
listeners now.

A R Rahman’s Humma
Song becomes the anthem of
2016
The makers of OK Jaanu have released the film’s first song,
which a reprised version of A.R.Rahman’s Humma Humma from the
1985 film Bombay. Featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha
Kapoor, the two are seen bonding as they dance to the beats of
Humma Humma. The Humma Song has been recreated by Tanishk
Baagchi with additional rap by Baadshah. The original lyrics
of the song have been retained with vocals lead by singers
Jubin Nautiyal and Shashaa Tirupati.

OK Jaanu is a millennial love story. Shraddha Kapoor plays
Tara, an ambitious girl who hopes to study architecture in
Paris while Aditya Roy Kapur too intends to fly off to the US
and make it big there. The much-in-love couple decides to live
in and make the most of their time together until their
ambitions take them on their respective paths. What starts off
as an easy, breezy relationship soon blossoms into deep love.
Will they sacrifice their ambitions to share a life together?
Or will it be logic over love? The love story delves into the
joys, emotions and confusions of today’s youth as they grapple
with relationships.

OK Jaanu is the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster OK
Kanmani that was helmed by Mani Ratnam. The Hindi version has
been directed by Ratnam’s protégé Shaad Ali and hits cinemas

on 13th January 2017.

One of the world’s most prolific and respected composers and
musicians, Rahman has enjoyed an extraordinary career since
the 90s and was already a massive and highly sought after

(1999), Zubeidaa (2001) and the Oscar nominated film Lagaan –
Once Upon A Time In India (2001).

His rise to international prominence came when he captured the

Imtiaz Ali, A R Rahman &
Irshad Kamil collaborate for
new film ‘Tamasha’
Music maestro A R Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil have
collaborated on director Imtiaz Ali’s new film ‘Tamasha’,
which is released on 27th November 2015. Presented by UTV
Motion Pictures & Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd,
the film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The trio
have collaborated to aptly capture the mood of the baithak
(music sitting) for ‘Tamasha’s music’ that had director Imtiaz
Ali, composer A R Rahman & lyricist Irshad Kamil recount their
experiences of creating this album. Transiting from the
regular music launches, ‘Tamasha’ music baithak was a
celebration of Irshad’s lyrics melting into Rahman’s melody to
create the magic of a song. Refreshingly, the baithak also had
Ranbir Kapoor welcome it’s participating guests over a
surprise skype chat.

‘Tamasha’ features nine tracks, each one distinctly different
from the other. In ‘Tamasha’, this team has used colloquial
words in traditional poetic forms to tell hummable stories
with each song. Lyricist Irshad Kamil stated that never before
has he had such freedom to write lyrics that present human
emotions in such different flavours. But the icing on the cake
is Rahman’s whimsical yet outstanding compositions. This album
surprises with a Mika song for Rahman (Heer toh badi sad hai),
makes you hum with a local vocal number (Wat wat wat) &
elevates your mood with the operatic, grand Sukhwinder song
(Chali Kahani) and “the soul of the film” in Rahman’s own
voice (Tu koi aur hai).

Synopsis of Tamasha

Exotic island, youthful abandon, far far away, Ved and Tara –
a story begins. Ved has grown up among stories. As a kid in
Simla, he would collect money, even steal money so that the
old storyteller would tell him stories. Ramayan, Helen of
Troy, Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjha, Aladdin, Romeo Juliet. The
storyteller would also say that all stories are the same. Ved
wants his story with Tara to be different. So they decide to
not tell each other who they are, to only lie about themselves
and after returning from the island to never meet each other
again. But they do meet again. The question is whether they
will be able to shape their story in the way they want. Will
the muse be able to make an artist of a common man, will Ved
be able to break the shackles of ordinary existence, escape
the corporate rat-race and become the way Tara sees him – the
exuberant story-teller? Corsica, Simla, Delhi, Calcutta, Japan
– all the world is a stage – as the drama of Ved and Tara
unfolds. Frolic, rage, quirk, laughter. Defeat, victory.
Tamasha.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala & Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Tamasha
releases worldwide on 27th November, 2015.
