Designed by architects Studio Contra Mundum , Atelier
is the thoughtful reinterpretation and renovation of an
existing colonial-style building which combines local
sensibilities with a global outlook and mixes the old
world with the new along the lines of an ‘Afro-minimalist’

A Space Like
No Other
Atelier is home to Retro Africa: a contemporary
art platform and gallery founded by Abdullahi
Umar and Dolly Kola-Balogun in 2015. Retro Africa
is a community for art enthusiasts, curators and
collectors which provides a platform for emerging
and established African artists through a range
of creative outlets such as pop-up exhibitions, art
fairs, intercultural dialogues and online media. The
platform represents established and upcoming
artists, including Duke Asidere, Uche Joel Chima and
Alimi Adewale, while featuring work by a range of
contemporary masters such as Victor Ehikhamenor
and Abdoulaye Konaté among many others.
Retro Africa have exhibited art in Nigeria as well as
internationally, in London, New York, Marrakesh and
Cape Town.
The Lower and Upper Galleries (with Screening Room)
are available for exclusive hire throughout the week,

A Memorable
Menu
Our restaurant and bar sits within the grounds of
Atelier and is open to an extensive tropical landscape
garden. “The Pavilion” is a fun and inviting space and
features a vibrant wall mural by Parisian artist Henri
Abraham Univers.
Sourcing the freshest ingredients, the restaurant
serves an eclectic range of West African and
American fusion cuisine designed by our award
winning chef and accompanied by signature
cocktails, a selection of local craft beers, wines and
champagne. Come try our memorable and delicious
menu of appetizers, hearty mains and desserts for
breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Pavilion and gardens are available for exclusive
