Welcome to Falmouth Week 2019 Falmouth Week is a major attraction for locals and visitors alike. With its origins in a local sailing regatta dating back at least as far as 1837, the week has evolved into not only a major sailing competition in the South West but also an opportunity for sailors and landlubbers to enjoy the many daytime and evening activities in the town. Friday 9th August Pink Wig Ladies Night This years ‘Breastival’ themed Pink Wig Night takes place on Friday 9th August. The main event is SOLD OUT but anyone and everyone is welcome to watch the famous Pink Wig Parade. The parade leaves The Moor at 6.30pm, led by the Falmouth Marine Band and Betty Stogs, before heading through the town centre to Events Square. 1200 ladies in pink wigs are quite the spectacle! Saturday 10th August Comic and Movie Fest 10am – 3pm Events Square FREE ENTRY Organised by and in aid of True Butterflies Foundation, this event promises to be a great day out for comic book and movie fans of all ages! You could meet a Star Wars Jedi or have your photo taken with a superhero! Featuring special guests, competitions and exhibitions plus so much more. 9th - 18th Entry is free but attendees are asked to August donate what they feel the Comic and Movie F1 Simulator Fest is worth. Led proudly through Falmouth by the infamous FREE - Drop-in Falmouth Marine Band, every penny raised is donated to local Make magical creatures community groups. & UFOs to para de There is no mistaking the Falmouth Marine Band as they entertain in the carnival ! the crowds on their way through the town centre adding madness and mayhem, often stopping to fire the chicken from the cannon. The Falmouth Marching Carnival finishes with a free Carnival Party at Events Square with street food, a well stocked bar and music from the Falmouth Soul Sensations. Sunday 18th August Dragon Boat Racing Falmouth Harbour 10am onwards Dragon Boating is a fun filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity. Teams compete in dragon boats which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon’s heads and tails. Crews of up to 16 people sit in pairs and paddle to compete in multiple timed races over distances of around 250m. Each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison and a professional helms-person in the stern to guide the boat. Perfect for all ages and fitness levels!
