For reservations, please contact: ANGIE FRANCO afranco@atacamarally.com Sport Secretary 6. PRESS JUAN ESTEBAN LASTRA Press Attaché Chile Email: jelastra@gmail.com Telephone: +56 9 93287647 7. SECURITY As of this year, Atacama Rally will begin to use the "Stella" system, tracking and detection system.
"Stella" is a satellite GPS system that allows you to follow your competitors in real time, delivering information second to second of the track that each competitor performs. It delivers visual and sound information of WP, CP, Radar Zones, Caps, among others. It allows activating an approach alarm between vehicles, for overtaking or stopping. Executes an emergency alert system automatically, by deceleration or front and side inclination or manual for S.0.S or breakdown; this allows the security teams of the organization to make the best rescue decision in the event of an accident. Jointly, it has an online tracking, allowing assistance teams, press, and rally fans a view of one or more competitors. Each participant must have the installation bracket, and the power cables (not included in the inscription). • To keep in mind: ü The equipment will be delivered on the day of the administrative verifications and must be presented correctly installed in the technical verification. ü Do not forget that you must purchase the cables and support bracket. ü Previous to the first Briefing there will be a mandatory safety talk. ü After the event, the competitor must return the equipment to the organization, and receive proof of such return. ü The use of the equipment is mandatory to participate in all categories. ü About doubts or consultations: contact Oscar Montaño oscaracing@gmail.com 7.1. TOURIST INFORMATION TIERRA AMARILLA 16 km from Copiapó, the regional Capital of the Atacama Region, is Tierra Amarilla, founded on December 22, 1891, which has a narrow and very particular territory. And it's built along the road, which becomes a real avenue for the community. The main economic activities are agriculture and mainly mining, with around 40% of mining projects in the region being here, with the highlights being the Candelaria Mining Company, Punta del Cobre, Caserones and others. During the year the temperatures oscillate between the average 30ºC during the summer and the 4ºC in winter, which favors the agriculture in the
valley, contrasting with the extreme climate of the precordilleranos and cordilleranos sectors, like annual average inferiors to the 10ºC Tourist attractions THE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LORETO CHURCH Church built in 1896, the work of the architect JOSE MIGUEL RETORNANO, is of neo-Gothic architecture. The parish built previously in 1783 was the work of the Miner PEDRO ARENAS, discoverer of the Loreto vein, named after the Virgin of Loreto and later would be the famous PAMPA LARGA mineral. With the acquired fortune he ordered to build the original parish. On the west side of the Mother Church is the grotto of the Virgin of LOURDES, built in 1964. It has a parish garden, where there are different types of fruit trees that were planted by MIGUEL LEMEUR (illustrious son of Tierra Amarilla) who received it as a gift from JOSE MARIA CARO (first cardinal of Chile).
The Church is restored in 1991, and there is a memorial plaque. The Church is located in front of the northeast side of the Plaza de Tierra Amarilla, on the west side of the city. The responsible entity is the bishopric of Copiapó. MINA TRANSITO MUSEUM It is 12 km away. South of Tierra Amarilla, from where it is accessed by Route C-397 (which leads to Mina Candelaria). It is a mine and Camp nineteenth century located in the Sierra Ojancos. Discovered by Francisco Toro in 1743, now converted into a Museum. It has the House of the Administration, Pircas that corresponded to the houses of the Miners, cart, piques and furnace. This museum aims to be the first of a mining circuit, proposed by the Department of Culture of the Illustrious Municipality of Tierra Amarilla. There is good information on the attractiveness of the place, adequate signage on Main Access Road, open to the general public, free of charge. TRANQUE LAUTARO
Located 83 km from Tierra Amarilla, it is accessed from the city to the southeast by route C-35 to LAUTARO. The dam was built in 1929 to regulate the waters of the Copiapo River and its use in irrigation. Located on the upper course of the Copiapó River, it guarantees an excellent view of the surroundings. NEGRO FRANCISCO LAGOON Located approximately 200 km from Copiapó and 4,500 m.s. The lagoon presents unique landscapes of breathtaking beauty. Hundreds of parinas fly over the lagoon in different directions, reflecting in its waters in dark blue and other turquoise parts. It belongs to the Nevado Tres Cruces National Park. Its surface is 860 km2, distinguishing two sectors within the lagoon according to their degrees of salinity.
This protected area shelters altiplanic species and is characterized by an Andean vegetation of vegas and bofedales, CONAF has a refuge hut and park rangers. From its edges it is possible to appreciate important summits like the Copiapó volcano among others. NEVADO TRES CRUCES NATIONAL PARK It is 180 km northeast of Copiapó by International Road. It is very important to indicate to tourists and hikers of our region that before making this circuit they must inform Sernatur and the Carabineros de Chile, in order to avoid accidents. It is important to be informed about the weather, road situation and signage, as well as to hire guides from the region. This National Park located in the Cordillera of the Atacama region, has an area of 59,082 hectares and includes two sectors, both located at altitudes above 3,500 m.
The fauna within the park is composed mainly of waterfowl such as Chilean flamingos, big parina and parina chica, tagua horned, piuquén, Andean mammals such as guanacos, vicuñas, rodents such as chululos, vizcachas and culpeos foxes. The vegetation appears as low grasslands, flattened by height and lack of oxygen. COPIAPÓ Copiapó is the capital of the third region of Chile; the city is located in the Copiapó river valley and is the main urban center of the area with an important mining and agricultural activity, which exports grapes to the eastern, North American and European markets. Copiapo is a city that has national monuments and an important history that recalls the rise of Chañarcillo with the exploitation of gold and silver. In addition, its vegetation coexists with the urban, with peppers located in the Plaza de Armas. The architecture is characteristic and declared patrimony, among which stand out the Matta House, the Cathedral Church, the Former Railway Employees House and the first Railway Station. Weather Desertic with homogeneous temperatures on the coast. The average maximum temperature of 18.4 ° C and is the minimum 4,9º C.
