Faradays Electrical (PTY) Ltd was established in Cape
Town on the 22 November 1945. Michael Hurwitz bought
into this company in May of 1953 and the name was
changed to Faradays Radio and Electrical Engineers (PTY)
Ltd.

From here we expanded; doing all types of electrical
installations as well as public address systems.

Faradays operated from a shop in Lower Main Road,
Observatory, selling radios and various spares.

His son, Allan, joined in 1976 and took over the running of
the business in August 1983. Allen is still
currently involved in the day to day operation of the
business.
Over time, Faradays Electrical has opened branches, firstly
in Johannesburg, headed by Danny Talhami and later in
Durban, Port Elizabeth and now in Mossel Bay.

The company has also contracted selected persons to
represent us in smaller towns making us truly national.

We have been of service to the Pick n Pay group since
their inception, specializing in their point of sale and
computer installations. We have been involved in most of
their store refurbishments and new store developments
country wide supplying all electrical and data
installations.

    installations with a complete after sales
    service

   Our 24 hour, 7 days a week operation
    provides a quick response to system failure

    therefore get the systems up and running
    within the shortest time possible.

 The company operates in many areas:
  Contracting- Maintenance- Data Cabling-
  Uninterrupted Power Supplies- Generators-
  Infrared Scanning- Transformers- Lighting,
  we offer a 24/7 emergency call out service to our
  clients, something not many can claim to do in
  the retail industry.

 All our staff are fully trained, and are kept up to
  date with all of the latest applicable regulations
  and technical changes within the data cabling
  and electrical fields.

    In July of 2005 we converted from a Close
    Corporation (CC) back to a Private Company
    (PTY Ltd) to include long term employees as
    Shareholders and Directors.

 We are continually addressing our BEE status in
  order to improve it.

   Faradays Electrical is registered with the Electrical
    Contractors Association of South Africa (ECA) and
    the department of Manpower as well as the
    Electrical Contracting Board

   We have a quality assurance policy and do regular
    inspections to ensure that all our installations
    comply with the required regulations including the
    SANS 10142 Code of Practice for the wiring of
    premises (as amended) and the Occupational
    Health and Safety Act No 85 of 1993.

   We have a full time Health and Safety Officer to
    ensure our Health and Safety standards are kept
    high.

   We are committed to an education and training
    program for all our staff in which we utilize the
    training facilities provided for by the ECA
    combined with in- house training.

   We are continuously sending our employees
    (Mostly “Previously Disadvantaged”) on
    training courses with a view to advancement
    within the company, We are in the process of
    undertaking a special in- house workshop for
    the staff, with a view of encouraging an interest
    in management and administrative functions of
    a contracting and serviced based company i.e.
    Senior/ project management, costing and site
    control.
