T H E F E S T I VA L Launched in 2013, the Kitesurfing Armada Festival has already achieved world record breaking success and is firmly established as the largest and most credible kitesurfing event in Europe. Set across the impressive beach front on Hayling Island, the Armada Festival connects the UK kitesurfing community, industry and festival goers, alongside hundreds of recreational kitesurfers and the world’s finest athletes and brands. It’s an action packed weekend of kitesurfing, live music, entertainment, camping, exhibitions and fundraising.
KITESURFING In 2021, the festival hosted 10,000 attendees across the weekend with almost 500 kitesurfers on the water. Hayling Island delivers the perfect location for kitesurfing, with a host of activities from big air comps, foiling, pro displays, charity challenges and power kite taster sessions for beginners all taking place whilst the best riders in the country arrive to compete in the British Kitesurfing Championships.
PRO KITESURFERS Leading the clinics and demonstrations across the weekend are a host of the world’s finest kitesurfing athletes and champions, which in the past has included Aaron Hadlow, Lewis Crathern, Nick Jacobsen, Sam Light, Tom Court, Team Bridge, George Duffy and many more. Last summer the festival launched a new beach front pro demo and live coaching zone where we held further pro kitesurfer and brand demonstrations, talks and workshops showcasing the very best of the sport. The very best in British kitesurfing talent will be on display as we host the British Kitesurfing Championships at the Armada, in partnership with the BKSA.
A C T I V I T I E S A N D E N T E R TA I N M E N T From parkour and slacklining sessions to sunrise yoga on the beach, unbeatable street food and craft beer offerings, kids and family zones, workshops and talks; the festival programme is extensive and makes for the ultimate weekend camping experience. The festival also offers expanded hospitality options and VIP receptions.
MUSIC With an outdoor main stage featuring some of the regions best loved live bands, to acoustic sets throughout the festival site and the ultimate end of day parties in the marquee, the festival caters for all tastes across the weekend and offers the full festival experience for all campers and day guests.
GREEN ARMADA Environmentally minded, the Armada festival works tirelessly every year to preserve and protect the festival site and sea across the weekend. From the removal of all single use plastics across the site, to providing reusable and recyclable cups, to a beach clean run by Southern Water and Surfers Against Sewage and recycling initiatives with Norse South East, to partnering with Natural England and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust to ensure the festival does no damage to the surroundings.
COMMUNITY The Kitesurfing Armada Festival champions local community, raising over £200,000 for charities to date, as well as annually hosting the big schools afternoon during the Friday of the festival weekend. 500 pupils from local schools will attend the festival to take part in a variety of talks and interactive workshops on kitesurfing, wind energy, sustainability and the environment.
