A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear CBA Community, Throughout the past 18 months, the COVID-19 pandemic challenged all of us in significant ways. Despite these challenges, CBA, and several other schools, have demonstrated that, through a shared commitment to well-informed health and safety guidelines, full in-person learning and a return to extracurricular activities is safely possible. We enter the 2021-2022 school year with the knowledge that was gained from more than a year of managing the virus, a summer of collecting transmission data regarding the delta variant during the our summer camps, and the benefit of the COVID-19 vaccine being available to our entire school population. We studied the safety measures that were effective this past year and merged that knowledge with the most recent recommendations from the New York State Education Department and the Onondaga County Health Department. The result is a plan that trimmed those protocols that proved to have little impact on the transmission of COVID-19, while enhancing the safety measures that proved to be the most effective. This approach yields a student experience that maximizes learning, social experiences, and extracurricular activities while maintaining the health and safety of our entire community. Despite the ongoing impact of COVID-19, we are excited to welcome all of our students back and to offer all of the student experiences that they treasure. Thank you for your continued support during the upcoming school year and go Brothers! Sincerely, Mr. Matthew Keough President, Christian Brothers Academy A NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE ◊ CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY ◊ LASALLIAN EDUCATION

HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES – QUARANTINE GUIDELINES CBA uses the following definition of “Close Contact” provided by the CDC: Close Contact through Proximity and Duration of Exposure: Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes). Exception: In the K–12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time. This exception does not apply to teachers, staff, or other adults in the indoor classroom setting. Public Health Recommendations: Except in certain circumstances, people who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 should quarantine. However, the following people with recent exposure may NOT need to quarantine: People who have been fully vaccinated. People who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last three months.
